Customer Review :

Great Shaver for even the most sensitive skin

First let me start by saying that the reviews from people that don't own the product is unacceptable and Amazon needs to remove his review from the ranking.
* Stepping off Soap Box now*

I have never been able to shave more often than weekly since I started shaving at 15. My skin is very sensitive and my hair is thick and curly so shaving not only hurts while shaving, but also when the hair grows back. So weekly was good for me with a shaver. In fact, even when in the military, I only had to shave once every other day. I have severe shaving irritation and borderline PFB.

So when I say that not only is this shaver very comfortable to use, but also allows me to shave daily(!) you will understand how great I think this product performs. I am now 35 and for the first time in my life people have actually seen me without a beard or stubble. I still get comments about this months after I purchased this from Amazon.

So let me start with some specifics of what I like:

1) The self cleaning option is by far the best thing about this shaver. I no longer have to spend forever cleaning my very course hair out.

2) I have never had blood drawn by this device. I am amazed as I have even had problems with trimmers, but not now.

3) Since shaving takes a fair amount of time for me (due to the course hair and hair density) I usually have had razor burn just from the shaver blades heating up. This shaver does heat up, but no where near enough to bother my skin.

4) This one surprises me a bit, but I like the shaving action of the blades. This is probably why my skin doesn't get bothered or why my hair doesn't become ingrown. The reason I am surprised is that I started with a Braun shaver first and it was awful. I swore that I won't use another one again. But I saw an show about the plant where these were made and how they were made and I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did...

5) I have had countless shavers and trimmers and all were very loud. This one is surprisingly quiet.

Now for some things I don't like:

1) Shaver states that the middle blade is to lift flat hairs... I can tell you that it doesn't work as well as I had hoped as I still have to spend 1/2 of my shaving time getting these stubborn hairs. This may be rare for this shaver as it might work very well for 99% of the people that use it, but not for me. However, I am being a bit picky as I can still get them (for the most part) it just takes time.

2) The base station on this shaver is quite large and my bathroom is already cluttered from my wife's makeup and such. Again kinda knit picky as the size of the base is due to the fact it houses the cleaning solution and mechanism for cleaning.

3) I think the price is a bit high for most people as I almost didn't get it when I saw the price, but that is why I am writing now.

Overall, a great shaver and it has literally changed my life. It is nice to be clean shaven everyday for the first time...

Absolutely the finest electric shaver made! ! !

I do own this razor and, after using Norelco for over 50 years, I find this to be the best I have ever owned. Besides giving the closest shave, the self-cleaning feature puts it over the top. No more taking it apart every week or so and spending an hour cleaning (and dropping) all the little cutters. You'll never be sorry you bought the top of the line Braun!

Overpriced, overhyped, and totally outperformed by Panasonic Wet/Dry

I do NOT own this shaver, but before purchasing a Braun dry electric shaver, you may wish to read my review of the newest Panasonic Wet/Dry Shaver, the ES8109S, which I posted on November 1, 2007. Panasonics have consistently offered shavers that have quieter, faster motors (13,000 RPMs) than Brauns. The best part of Panasonic shavers is that they allow you to shave with water and shaving foam or gel, which lends to a closer, more irritation free shave. If you have sensitive skin and are looking to make the switch to an electric shaver, or if you just want the best shave an electric can provide, I highly recommend a Panasonic Wet/Dry. You be the judge, but a least be informed.

Editorial Review :

New for 2007, the Seiko S-Yard 1080 Cleancut Personal Shaver. The new ES1080 Cleancut is the world's first purpose built Personal / Pubic Shaver. The heart of any great shaver design is the foil. Seiko S-Yard tested five different foil designs (see picture) before producing the final production design. Slot shape, size and placement were tweaked. At the same time, different foil thicknesses and coatings were tried until the right blend of safety, comfort and effectiveness was obtained. The ES1080 Personal Shaver has a new, curved, ergonomically designed shape making it easy to get the shaver into all those "hard to reach" areas. The new ES1080 is rechargeable! Using the 110 volt, UL Listed charger brings the 1080 to full charge in 1 hour. You can also use it with the cord if necessary. An indicator light shows the ES1080 is charging and goes out when fully charged. The new ES1080 is easy to clean. You can rinse out the head under running water...or simply remove the foil and tap the hair and powder out of the receiver. With pubic shaving the preferred shaving technique is dry shaving with a lubricating powder. We include a 3 oz. bottle of Medical Grade cornstarch based lubricating powder. Lightly dust the area to be shaved with the powder and your 1080 will glide over the skin without sticking. Remember, the ES1080 is a SHAVER and will only cut hair of stubble length (like the 5 o'clock shadow of a man's beard, 3/32 inch max.) You'll need a good safe trimmer, at least for your first shave, to get your hair to stubble length. That's why we include a disposable Noxema Bikini Razor with the ES1080. The ES1080 includes a US spec 110 volt UL Listed 1 hour quick charger, a vial of shaver oil, a travel pouch, a 3 oz. shaker bottle of medical grade cornstarch based dry lubricant, a cleaning brush and multilingual instruction manual as well as Seiko S-Yard's full One Year Parts and Workmanship Guarantee.

KISS THE PAINFUL WAXING GOOD-BYE !!!

I wanted to eliminate the painful procedure of waxing. And so I decided to give the Seiko S-Yard ES 1080 Cleancut a try. It was very easy and painless to use. I followed the instructions of removing the hair first with the little Noxzema shaver and shaving cream and then used the Seiko to finish. The result was great and I even decided to go all the way and to take it all off, that is something I would have never wanted to attempt with the waxing method before. Ouch!! The only downfall to the Seiko Shaver is that I have to use it every day because it only trims it if the hair is very short, almost like a "5 o'clock shadow" for men. But the procedure on it's own can be quite pleasurable and it now has become part of my morning routine and I don't mind it at all. It leaves the pubic area nice and soft and smooth, and clean looking after using it. A very liberating, sexy feeling and experience, also a nice surprise for that special one (PS) in your life. Definitely would recommend it.

Love this shaver...great for people with sensitive skin

This shaver is awesome compared to other shavers I have tried. It is great for sensitive skin and can be used just about anywhere. You will not cut yourself. The only downfall is you need to blade shave first, but after getting into a good routine it gets easier. I find that I can get a much better shave with this than any blade. There are no ugly bumps. The only problem that may take getting used to is it must be done on dry skin with powder. I highly recommend this product for people with sensitive skin.

Best (Safe)Personal hair remover!

I've used this for 2 mths. I would've given 5 stars if this shaver didn't require a pre shave. I would recommend a battery powered slim trimmer to use first for the close shave, vs a razor. Especially in those more delicate difficult areas to get to. I was "gun shy" at first expecting to get a nick or catching of skin, but it is totally safe and painless. Of course I tried to cut corners and not use the powder, but the powder (I also use baby powder, no special powder necessary) does give you the desired hairless shave. Having had Brazilian waxes last summer I experienced a lot of problems w/ painful ingrown hairs through most of the winter. With patience and practice with the Cleancut, you can achieve the same baby smooth results w/o the ingrown hairs, the embarrassement or pain of professional waxing, or the expense. It's very easy to clean, the battery lasts a long time. It's also great for those accessable areas on the face that need waxing from time to time(no preshave required). Bottom line: I'm glad I spent the money, I can take it anywhere. But I can't stress enough that it will take time and practice to get a hairless shave. If I had written this review a month ago, it would not have been as positive. Once you've learned the process it will take only about 15mins., less if you maintain your grooming regularly.

Questions & Answers
Question : How many days after shaving should you wait till you wax your legs?
Okay girls we all know if you shave you only get one day of smoothness which is why i like waxing but the bad things is you have to wait so long for the hair to be long enough for the wax strips so, how many days do you wait after shaving untill you wax?

Answer:
Hair typically grows half an inch per month but the hair on your legs has to be at least a 1/4 inch long for the wax to grab and hair to come off on the fabric strip. So 2 weeks is the right time to wait if you want a good clean wax job. Wear pants until then, it won't kill you. And besides, since hair grows at different rates from the root, you will find that you will have to wax less and less as time goes on.

Question : At what age should you start shaving your pubic hair?
At what age should you start shaving your pubic hair?

Answer:
Most people never do. It is a hassle with no good effect. I would say just wax your bikini line. Don't shave it because it's easy to get nicks. Don't wax the pubic area only, because it can damage skin. If you do shave it, try using only soap you normally use, because most shaving creams and conditioners leave irritating rashes!

Question : Shaving....?
i have many questions 1.is it better to shave in the shower or when your legs are dry 2.is it ok to use soap for shaving cream...if so what kind of soap? 3.if you use Nair will your hair grow back quickly and THICK? 4.is it ok to use "guy" razors 5.how long does it usually take before razors get dull?

Answer:
1)the awnser is by far shave when you're legs are wet. Dry shaving is never good. It cuts skin easier, doesn't shave as closly and causes razor burn. 2)soap is fine. Any kind will work. There are some body washes [one i have that's just a random brand from walmart] that says "replace for you're everyday shaving gel" When I'm out of gel/cream and don't have a lot of time I actually use foam hand soap [sounds weird but just for a quick touch up or if i'm wearing capris it works.] 3)I use nair. Actually no it doesn't. For me it's just like the commertials, the hair grows back lighter. When you use nair it [i don't really know what it does techincly] dissolves the hair folical somewhat so that it comes back softer and less noticable [like when you first get hair on you're legs] instead of comming back thick and noticable when you shave [because you are just cutting it shorter, not really dissolving it you know?] 4) It's probably not as good as a girls razor. Guy razors are more for facial and girls are more for legs/underarms so i'm sure there's a slight difference in how they are built. 5) Um.. ahh I read an exact date. I can't remember. I think it's every few weeks? I read it a long time ago but I have no clue where I would find the awnser now.

Question : What are the advantages and disadvantages of shaving my pubes?
I am a 16 yr old male and I am wondering what are the advantages and disadvantages of shaving my pubic hair?

Answer:
it will make ur package look bigger. but you will have to keep on shaving it. cuz if u dont it will itch like hell. you can try it. its not like its never gonna grow back

Question : How do I get rid of shaving rash & ingrowing hair?
OK I've started this new job where I have to be clean shaven but in doing so I have started getting shaving rash & ingrowing hair particulalry under my chin. I use good quality blades & discard them when blunt. I also use an after shave lotion. So please guys (& girls) any advise will be appreciated. Cheers B.

Answer:
put on colone. thats what my dad does. It stings a little but it works

Question : How do I get rid of facial hair without shaving?
There are some places in my face where I prefer not to shave. Is there any hair removal creame or anything else that I can use? I don't want the hair to grow back thick which happens after shaving.

Answer:
Try Sally Hansen Creme Hair Remover for the face. It's excellent.

Question : how do you get rid of irritaion from legs after shaving?
I've had razor irritation on my legs for the longest. Every time i shave I get red bumps on my legs. I ve tried mostly every type of razor and the schick quatro is the one that gives me the least irritaion. I dont have the kind of money to go out and wax my legs every week. And Nair really really irritates my legs. I've used shaving cream but it didnt help much. So is there anything i can do to get rid of irritation?

Answer:
You need to shave at the end of your shower. Let your legs absorb some moisture first. Use the quatro and use a moisturizing shave gel. Mosturize as soon as you get out of the shower. If you want to try waxing, you don't have to do it every week. The first couple of times it might only last 2 weeks or so, but the more you do it the longer the results last.

Question : at what age do girls start shaving their underarms?
My daughter is 10 and already a 38B with hairy armpits. When should I teach her about shaving? She already got her first period.

Answer:
well when i got my first period in 4th grade and was a 34b by then.. my mom was like here's a razor it's time to start shaving your armpits and legs. so, i'd say start busting out a razor and teaching her how to take care of herself along with some deodorant. my neice had her first period and her mom got her some razors and pads and deodorant and taught her everything she needs to know right then and there.

Question : Does shaving really make your hair grow faster and thicker?
If yes, will it eventually go back to normal if I stop shaving it for a while? If you have one, please give me a scientific explanation for why it does. I can't see how cutting the ends of your hairs can make it grow faster and thicker.

Answer:
It only seems to grow faster because you're having to shave again. It is not any thicker but only seems that way because the blunt end you shaved off is coming to the surface. The shape and texture of the hair is determined under the skin. Normal is the condition of the hair all the time, anyway. If you stop shaving, the hair will only be longer, not a different texture.

Question : How can i get rid of a bad shaving rash?
Every time i shave my legs i get a red pimply rash which lingers for days, how can i prevent / treat it? Its not my razor as i have used many types to see if this is the cause and i have tried many shaving creams and gels to help but nothing seems to work! Please help!

Answer:
Try shaving with conditoner. My daughter had that problem and this has solved it.
