Too small to be a doorstop, Too light to be a paperweight

Mine didn't cut worth anything, and then it broke when dropped. Now, Norelco is renaming it and targeting it at men. This is a cheap cheap razor, you get what you pay for, and there is a reason that this costs less than a ten pack of replacement blades for your real razor. It does, however, hold a charge a long time. But, since it cuts as well as rubbing sandpaper on your skin, it must be noted that sandpaper needs no battery.

Is it me?

Is it me that I just can't get a close simple shave with electric razors!? I bought this product out of a recommendation from a friend. She's happy with it, I'm not. I guess it's just me. I always revert back to razors.

Rating :

it only works on long hairs

I bought this razor at a filene's near my home and without having read any of these reviews online. I still keep it as a back-up for when I lose my regular razor. It does work but it's not ideal for everyday maintnance. It will not easily trim morning stubble but it will work on hairs long enough to wax. You can use it for shorter stubble but it'll take you a few passes. It'll trim hairs short enough to feel but not see.
For me, as an emergency-only option, it's been worth the cost.

Not Worth It

I have very sensitive skin and shaving with a razor is painful, so I can only do it once a week. I saw a commercial for this razor and was leary, but I did some research and read some good reviews. I purchased the razor hoping that it would allow me to ditch the painful razor. Oh, I was so wrong! Please, don't buy this razor. It does not give a close shave at all! You have to go over spots over and over and still nothing happens. So, by the time you get done, your legs will still be hairy and they will be all red. It leaves stubble 1/8 of an inch long which totally looks like you haven't shaved. You can't wear shorts, swimsuits, nothing. Plus, the battery dies all time when I am in the middle of shaving, even though I charge it properly. If you are looking for a decent shave, this product will not help you.

Worst Shaver Ever!

Are you wondering why this shaver is now hard to find? It's because it sucks and doesn't work! Do believe the negative reviews on here! Unfortunately I bought it went it first came out at it's highest price! I thought it's Norelco it's got to be good! Wrong! The shaving guard thing in the middle got all warped from trying to take it off for cleaning and the blades on the top and bottom end serve NO purpose! It was like the shaver didn't shave any hair at all;not even close to a smooth shave! I was very dissapointed in Norelco and tossed this shaver into the trash can. I can't believe the testers at Norelco let this product go on the market! :(

Great Shave

This razor gives me the best shave that I have ever gotten from an electric shaver, and I have tried many of them both foils and rotary. It is priced right and you don't have to buy special cleaning products, just replace the head every 30 days. The heads are also inexpensive and you have a new razor every time you change the head. No clean up, the head catches the whiskers and since you change the head every 30 days there is no mess. The only drawback is that the razor is loud, but I still rate it a five since it gives an excellent shave and a very resonable price.

Nice idea poorly executed.

While I think the idea sounds great in concept, there are a few issues with this shaver that prevent me from giving it a positive review.

First of all, the razor does not shave as well as other ones that I have previously used. I find that I have to go over the same area twice as many times as I would have to with other brands (even other Remington's that I have used). It does end up doing the job, but I waste more time on a good shave with this model.

Secondly, the foil seems to leave a coating of dirt on my skin after use. I can see this result because I always use an astringent with a cotton square to wipe my face down after a shave. The cotton square is literally black after I use this razor. I even tried my old electric razor for a few days to see if it would be just as dirty -- it was not. I can only guess that it has something to do with the nanosilver technology used for the foil, but the way it is represented as "preventing bacteria growth" I would have expected the cotton square to be less dirty.

One aspect I don't understand about the replaceable razor head is you never have to clean it, just throw it away when you it fills up. I know on previous electric razors I have used, when I clean them after every shave, I have to run a small brush between the blades because hair easily builds up in that area (preventing a closer shave). Since you can't get inside to clean this, how is this build-up between the tiny blades prevented?

At any rate, it's not a perfect razor. If you don't mind a longer shave and a dirty face, the idea of changing the razor head every month may just appeal to you.

Perfect for lazy shaver

This razor is perfect for a lazy shaver like me who gets careless about cleaning the razor.

Very god job

I've found this to be the best electric shaver I've owned since my great uncle gave me my first one over 40 years ago. There is no razor burn on the neck, and the face feels as smooth as the throat. My wife loves it, and after all that is why we bother to shave in the first place isn't it, to get closer to our women?

Questions & Answers
Question : Men: What do you prefer- electric shavers or disposables and why?
Dont forgot your reason for preference.

Answer:
I too used electric ones before:never a smooth shave Switched to disposables:tried all kinds Got now for a year the Phillips fusion mach 3:the best there is The vibrating blades are way great and provide you with the smoothest shave ever. And no cuts:ever Sky.

Question : These plugs for shavers in bathroom...what would happen if a drop of water got in there?
Thank you!

Answer:
Dont use it for at least 24 hours! unless your trying to kill your husband are you?

Question : Does anyone have any advice regarding mens electric shavers?
I've been using a philips 3 head shaver for years now and I'm quite used to using them. Problem is, they never get the hairs under my neck very well and I've been doing a bit of investigation to see whether or not the foil type shavers are better. Can anyone comment?

Answer:
The electric shavers donot give total clean and smooth shave. It works where the skin is relatively tight. For clean shave only blades are best.Electric shavers are best during travel,to avoid soap and water.I use Phlishave(Philips) during travel only.

Question : Which electric shavers, shave closer? The circular ones (with 3 circles) or the flat surfaced ones?
Has anyone used both types of electric shavers? And if so which do you like better? I've learned the expensive ones last longer but I don't want to waste money buying the wrong one. Thanks for reading.

Answer:
Hubby was a manager of a personal grooming specialist store and he says... It depends on a number of different things. Do you experience shaving rash, redness or swelling after, during a shave? If you do, the rotary (3 circles) are no good unless you pay top dollar for the new phillips arcitec range. Stick with Braun range of shavers from the 5000 series up, make sure they have the newer foil (top part) as it means less strokes up the face, hence less irritation. If you have a thick beard (not a full beard but the individual hair is thick) unfortunately the Braun isn't as strong as it tries to express and it's off to the Phillips range. If you don't have the $490+ for the Arcitec then drop down to the 9190 or 9170, these last two have excellent battery life and exceptional power for the thicker beards. If you are a shower shaver, don't buy the wet/dry shavers from phillips. The Panasonic wet/dry does a phenominal job and works better if you shave straight after a shower using a shaving balm. You'll get awesome results. One thing you want to remember, don't buy from the big department stores, they know nothing and won't be able to help you if something doesn't work as you wish. There are always solutions to finding the best shave and you could definately do well to ask at the Shaver Shop for this kind of advice/assistance without the pressure. He uses the Braun 360 and it gives him a great shave but he's got sensitive skin and not a thick beard. Any other advice, he does know his stuff. My bathroom is filled with stuff that makes it easier and it does an awesome job.

Question : Do they sell shavers to shave your head?
I always do it with my razor but i always end up bleeding, do they sell something special for the head?

Answer:
yep

Question : Can you use shaving gel with electric shavers?
New Norelco 9160XLCC Smart Touch Electric Razor Shaver I am not trying to shave on dry skin cause that i think would cause irritation e.t.c is it possible to shave on wet skin with little bit of shaving cream to make it smooth?

Answer:
Depends on the shaver. Some are rated wet/dry, and they will be fine with gel

Question : Is it possible for some shavers to leave your legs "hairless" for longer than others?
The disposable ones. For example, the wilkinson's sword one (for women) against a normal boots/superdrug brand

Answer:
No, they would be the same but if u want to try for hairless legs longer try the Nair Lotion, or Veet. I've tryed it and it just burns the hair away. you dont feel a thing i think its way easier than using razors ( plus no razor burn or cuts!! ) hoped i helped!! =)

Question : what ever happened to fighter ernie shavers?
I'm from youngstown, ohio, and never find out what happened to ernie shavers

Answer:
Shavers retired in 1983 after retinal problems were discovered. After retirement, he became an ordained Christian minister and moved to Phoenix, where he pastored for many years. He moved to England to pastor a church there in the early 2000s. He has been on the Benny Hinn TV show several times. He has visited Ali several times and he says he, Ali, and George Foreman have become very good friends over the years. Shavers accepted the invitation of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship to preach at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. Amongst other things, Earnie also works in Liverpool UK, as nightclub security where he is very much respected. Shavers was a troubleshooting referee in professional wrestling for a little while after his retirement. He is a Patron of The Shannon Bradshaw Trust, a charity based in Warrington, Cheshire, helping children with life threatening conditions, and their families. Shavers made a short comeback in the late 1980s and early 1990s. After a few wins and losses he retired for good in 1995. In 2003, Shavers was ranked number 10 among boxing's greatest punchers in history by Ring Magazine. Shavers was given the title of "puncher of the century" and is widely considered to be one of the hardest punchers of all time. Shavers finished his career in 1995 with a record of 74 wins (68 by knockout, 23 inside the first round), 14 losses and 1 draw.

Question : Are there any health hazards in using Electric shavers?
I want to use electric shavers, wanted to know weather it is good for the skin.

Answer:
I've used an electric shaver for over 30 years and suffered no ill effects at all. Use a good pre-shave lotion before and a good after-shave lotion.

Question : Which is better for razor bumps (ingrown hairs) on the neck, electric shavers or blades?
Any suggestions? I get razor bumps around my neck area, currently using a blade (mach 3), will changing to an electric razor cause more problems or help?

Answer:
don't try to shave over ingrown hairs. You need to put warm compress on the skin and then exfoliate to remove the skin covering the hair if it's not to deep. Use a loofah and maybe a mild facial scrub or something. Then always make sure your skin is soft before shaving and use a good shave gel. & a good rasor. and use an after shave.
