Customer Review :
The produce was great but it was shipped twice and Amazon gives you no way to talke to a person about it.
The product was just as advertised. I was happy with it but it was shipped to me twice. Amazon gives you no way to talk to a person about it and did not give an option of why it was being returned, shipped twice etc. The options given only allow it to be returned prepaid shipping, this is wrong to me. In the future I will make every effort to find an item else where before purchasing from Amazon.

Making a So So Shaver Better
I have been using this shaver for about a year and it wasn't giving me a very close shave. My father recommended that I try Williams Lectric Shave. I don't know what that stuff does, but I now get a shave almost as smooth as a blade.
If you do have this shaver, you can make your own solution instead of the refill kits from Braun:
* denatured alcohol
* Singer sewing machine oil,
* McCormick pure lemon extract, This is optional. You'll need this if you want your razor to have that lemony fresh smell. Be sure to get extract, not lemon juice. Lemon extract is an oil made from the skins.
Directions:
Rinse the empty cartridge with water. I don't bother to completely clean it out. Just rinse it a few times, then let it dry.
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract. 1/2 teaspoon machine oil. 5 3/4 oz of alcohol.
I mix it in a little pitcher with a screw on top that I bought at Wal*Mart. After I shake it up, I pour it into the Braun cleaning cartridge.

Customer Review :
One year later... garbage
Pros: 1) Rechargeable and could last for 30 minutes.
Cons: 1) Self cleaning is a joke. You must keep "fluid" in the shaver mount. The fluid becomes filled with "shaving by-products" and their bacteria. The "fluid" as a result becomes a "soup" which cakes up the internal components of the pumping mechanisms. After a year, no amount of cleaning can keep this system working efficiently. 2) The shaver itself is not "a close shave". A cheap $20 did a much better job. 3) The shaver has a noticeable reduced power after 10 minutes. I would not take this on the road. 4) Due to the "self-cleaning", the shaver is hard to clean manually.

What are they talking about!
I bought the R-9500 for my husband over a year ago. And I think it has gotten a bad name from these other reviews. He changes the fluid and filter every other month. Sure it cost 5.oo for that, but a disposable razor costs more. We've never had any isuues with the cleaning unit or the razor. It is a wonderfully smooth shave. The razor tells you how much time is left on the batteries, so you know when to plug it in. He is a US Marine and takes this thing into all kinds of situations and it has NEVER failed him. When and if it breaks, we will replace it with the same model or one very similar!!!

Nice concept, poor execution
The Remington R-9500 promises a self-cleaning feature using exclusive Remington cleaning fluid which needs to be replaced every month. This incurs an additional monthly cost of around $5. With the fluid comes a new filter. The filter does a good job catching the shaved stubble and must be replaced with the fluid.
A major problem in the design is the impeller shaft that pumps the cleaning fluid from the reservoir to the cleaning area. I've had to replace the entire cleaning base three times because the impeller shaft becomes rusty and breaks off, rendering the cleaning feature unuseable.
Gunk tends to build up in the shaving head and this needs to be disassembled regularly and cleaned by hand. If the self-cleaning feature worked as advertised, this shouldn't be necessary.
I would not recommend buying this product.

cleaning unit is not durable
There's nothing really wrong with the razor itself. The problem I've found is that the cleaning unit is shoddy and always fails (in various ways) long before the razor does. Thus you will end up buying full, expensive replacements often, including a new razor that you don't need -- or else, you'll end up tossing the cleaning unit and continuing to use the razor and clean it by hand, which is what I finally did.
The cleaning unit is convenient while it works, but it just doesn't last.

Customer Review :
Amazing for the price
I have had this razor for at least 3 years and it is great! I use it virtually every day on my underarms, and as needed on my bikini line. I have very sensitive skin in these areas and find the electric works best for me with no irritation. I have used it on my legs, but this is usually a quickie "last minute" clean up. I highly recommend this. I didn't expect it to last this long or perform this well for the price. It has exceeded my expectations in every way.

Great shaver
This costs a little more than the Clio but I was surprised at how close this type of shaver can get. When used wet, its almost as close as a blade. Much more convenient to use. I need the versatility of battery operated. With this one you don't need to pack the charger or find an outlet in a hotel room when traveling.

Question : What is the appropriate age for girls to start shaving?
I'm turning 14 at October 10 and I want to shave my legs. I asked my mom about it and she told me to look up the appropriate age to start shaving in the internet. Thanks.
Answer:
I started at about 14.
I think really you should only do it if you need because you know that in most cases it comes back darker?
Try using a hair removal cream because that way you can avoid getting a shaving rash.

Question : What is the ideal way of shaving arms and legs?
I use a razor to shave my arms and legs. I use the specially formulated shaving foam for women, I wet the area well and always change the blades on a regular basis. But whatever I do, my skin does not feel smooth and I always get razor burn. So I must be doing something wrong. Please help.
Answer:
Your skin is probably just getting dry because you are shaving so much.. it would help to mosturize your legs & arms as soon as you shaved them... and if you shave them everyday.. if possible - give them a break for a couple days.. you will notice a change.. & then the shave will become even smoother & you'll have nice skin... something I do, which REALLY helps.. is once you're out of the shower, & done shaving.. use baby oil gel.. and rub some on your arms and legs & and then rub your legs & arms w/a towel.. and then apply your regular lotion.. & you should see a big improvement.. I hope I helped.. because I had the same problem..

Question : how do you get rid of irritaion from legs after shaving?
I've had razor irritation on my legs for the longest. Every time i shave I get red bumps on my legs. I ve tried mostly every type of razor and the schick quatro is the one that gives me the least irritaion. I dont have the kind of money to go out and wax my legs every week. And Nair really really irritates my legs. I've used shaving cream but it didnt help much. So is there anything i can do to get rid of irritation?
Answer:
You need to shave at the end of your shower. Let your legs absorb some moisture first. Use the quatro and use a moisturizing shave gel. Mosturize as soon as you get out of the shower. If you want to try waxing, you don't have to do it every week. The first couple of times it might only last 2 weeks or so, but the more you do it the longer the results last.

Question : Shaving....?
i have many questions
1.is it better to shave in the shower or when your legs are dry
2.is it ok to use soap for shaving cream...if so what kind of soap?
3.if you use Nair will your hair grow back quickly and THICK?
4.is it ok to use "guy" razors
5.how long does it usually take before razors get dull?
Answer:
1)the awnser is by far shave when you're legs are wet. Dry shaving is never good. It cuts skin easier, doesn't shave as closly and causes razor burn.
2)soap is fine. Any kind will work. There are some body washes [one i have that's just a random brand from walmart] that says "replace for you're everyday shaving gel" When I'm out of gel/cream and don't have a lot of time I actually use foam hand soap [sounds weird but just for a quick touch up or if i'm wearing capris it works.]
3)I use nair. Actually no it doesn't. For me it's just like the commertials, the hair grows back lighter. When you use nair it [i don't really know what it does techincly] dissolves the hair folical somewhat so that it comes back softer and less noticable [like when you first get hair on you're legs] instead of comming back thick and noticable when you shave [because you are just cutting it shorter, not really dissolving it you know?]
4) It's probably not as good as a girls razor. Guy razors are more for facial and girls are more for legs/underarms so i'm sure there's a slight difference in how they are built.
5) Um.. ahh I read an exact date. I can't remember. I think it's every few weeks? I read it a long time ago but I have no clue where I would find the awnser now.
