Question : Body hair shaving problem?
I found this amazing philips shaver for mens body grooming, its working wonders but I tend to have skin irritation and if I dont use hair minimizing lotion, it grows into a boils, especially on my upper back! Is this normal? Is anyone out there having a similar problem?
Answer:
my step-son shaves most of his body hair and has this problem. he found using an abrasive textured cloth or a loofa or a shower scrunchy keeps the dead skin from forming over the hair shaft and no more boils or irritation.

Question : How do I stop my cat constanly grooming/cleaning to the point he has chewed his hair off one of his legs?
He's a ragdoll. Quite needy and has also lost weight and shedding hair quite dramatically from the mid to the back top part of his body. (Has been wormed and fleaed)
Answer:
If your cat hasn't been seen by a vet recently, then you need to take him in for a check up. He has a variety of symptoms and they may or may not be related. The excessive grooming could be due to parasites, inhaled allergens, food intolerance or even stress. If your cat isn't feeling well, this could make him stressed.

The average cat spends over a third of their waking day grooming. Not only does it keep their coat in good condition, it's also very therapeutic in relieving tension. However, if a cat is feeling stressed, they will use grooming as a diversionary activity - it's far more comforting than facing up to the problem. If the vet thinks it's stress related, he might suggest fitting him with an Elizabethan collar to prevent him from grooming. A Feliway plug in might help, as they emit an aroma that cats find comforting. (You'll need to use it for at least 3 weeks to see the full benefits.) If he'll allow you to groom him, spend more time doing this, as not only will it strengthen the bond between you, but it may reduce his desire to do it. Try also diverting his attention to something else, such as toys to see if this will help break the habit. Bach Flower Remedies can be helpful in treating stress or other emotional problems in cats. I know that when a person touches their hair it is a "grooming signal" and when a person folds their arms it is a "defense signal". What does it mean when someone tugs down their shirt? Are they covering up or trying to groom?

I know women are and that's why we're constantly trimming, plucking, waxing, shaving, etc and etc. Honestly, I don't think guys have to worry about anything but facial hair because it is quite noticeable and expected by society to maintain groomed.

none - back sack and crack baby, thats the best way to see to it. waxing is the best way to keep body hair at bay, painful but worth it ;-)

Question : What does this hamster body language really mean?
I have two dwarf hamsters, both are 1.5 year old. I like to watch them grooming cos its so fun and cute. My fav is to see them rubbing their head with paws, before that, they even rubbing paws swiftly as if applying oil on it, lol. Well, I was checking out their body languages for fun and noticed one said thats its actually an act of tenderness. I wonder what does it really mean? I always take it as a usual cleaning and grooming though.

I've always been told by my eldest brother- he's 29 and used to keep loads of rodents, snakes, etc.- that it means their happy. My hamsters always seem to be grooming themselves, so their obviously happy then.

Question : I took my my silky terrier to petco for grooming?
It's been 4 days now and he has not stopped wimppering. He shivers uncontrollably all the time, i thought he was cold, even bought a sweater...still he shakes. I have checked his body for pain and he doesn't have any, yet it's almost as if they've switched my dog?
Answer:
It may just be a coincidence that he started acting this way after his visit to petco for grooming. Maybe a visit to the vet is in order since it has been going on now for 4 days. There may be something physically wrong with him that needs medical attention.

Question : Where to find a small trimming grooming tool for small dogs?
I bought the normal size trimmer for my 8 pound dog and it works great on her body but I need a smaller trimmer for her legs. The video that teaches you how to groom showed a smaller pair of clippers to do the dogs legs and paws. I can't find a smaller trimmer at Petco or Pet Stuff. Any suggestion on where to look?

When I groom smaller dogs, I will use the clippers on the body and then sweep them gently over the tops of the legs. Then I comb/brush the legs and use shears to just trim the hair to just 'neaten' it up. Usually shaving the legs will make the legs look super skinny when compared to the body, if you just trim them it balances the look out. Good luck :)
