Norelco 7810

I got my first Norelco in Germany in 1954 and have use them since. Got the 7810 model because it was made in Holland, not China and was a $20 off sale. It has Li-Ion battery but still needs to use until runs out and then recharge. When that happens you can wait a few second and turn on and use for a short time or plug it in, use and then leave pugged to recharge - take about an hour and has flashing light when done. First charge takes a long time. Hot water wash is nice - I rest mine on the heads so water drains off.

I like it!

I've owned 3 Norelco shavers in my life. Each lasting more than 10 years. The local repair shop who has serviced my previous 2 Norelco's noted that the new ones aren't the quality of the old. Time will only answer that question but I can state that the 7340 system sold here is a much changed version of what I have used in the past.

First the 7430 is light....extremely light. It is very quiet, something that takes getting used to. It's also the first Norelco I've owned without the comfort control setting. I was initially reluctant since on my previous 2 Norelco's the comfort control setting seemed to affect the closeness of the shave. This particular razor has the HQ8 heads. The higher priced models use the HQ9s. From my research the biggest complaint about the HQ9 head is that it seems to take more time to get a clean shave. Based on 3 weeks of use of the 7340, even without the comfort control, not only do the HQ8 heads shave as fast as my older Norelco's but the shave is also closer.

This shaver also allows the use of water to rinse the heads clean. This is a major advantage over my older Norelco's since I use a pre shave product that can cause the blades to need frequent cleaning. Now the after shave rinse to the head assembly keeps things much cleaner without having to disassemble the heads, which was what I previously had to do.

On the negative side the razor is delivered bare bones. No case to store or transport it in. It won't fit even my older cases. My previous Norelco had a battery gauge which allowed me to know when to recharge the shaver. This razor has a charge indicator but its only purpose is to indicate when the shaver is being charged and that it has reached full charge.

My older Norelco's would slow down as their batteries started to fail. This one just stops when the voltage falls below certain level. Obviously not a good thing if you have no available AC outlet at the time. To get the best battery life you do need to let the batteries run down. If you constantly plug it in to keep it "topped off", you will be replacing batteries on a more frequent cycle. Note that this service normally must be done by a service person since the batteries are soldered in. In past experience I got at least 4-5 years service out of one set of batteries.

Overall this is a good lower cost Norelco. It's Chinese made so from my stand point I will have to wait and see if it holds up as well as my former shavers that were Holland manufactured.

Can't Complain

I bought the shaver from Best Buy for $52 three weeks ago. I'm 63 and have been using Braun shavers for the past 25 years because I felt they gave a closer shave than Norelco.

This Norelco, which although is made in China, seems very well made. It is remarkably quiet and comfortable, a pleasure to use. After three weeks of getting my beard accustomed to the shaver I can say it seems to shave reasonably close and gets all the hairs - something my Braun had a problem with.

I just completed a test, shaving half my face with the Norelco, half with my old Braun (not in the best shape), and after judging my beard the next morning, the Norelco easily won. It's not as close as a blade - by 5 p.m I notice a stubble, but considering how easy it is to use (and washable) I really can't complain! an excellent shaver at a reasonable price.

Decent

This is an interesting gadget. It adds a lubricating pump to an electric razor. I haven't used too many electric razors but this one seemed pretty smooth although it didn't provide as a good a shave as a regular razor. No irritation and not much mess either. The razor element seems a bit flimsy, even with the protective cover. As long as its not banged around too much it would make for a decent travel razor.

Excellent Shaver

All my life I have hoped that technology would finally allow a electric shaver that would actually shave as good as a razer blade. Well, that day has arrived. This shaver is used in the shower and has lotion inside the shaver that you push a button and it despenses the lotion. The shave is unbleivabley smooth. When I get out of the shower and rinse my face, it feels absolutley equiveniant to a shave with a blade.. end of story

Rating :

Nice shaver, but does chew up your neck.

I like this shaver. It gives your a nice close shave, and it is shower safe, which saves me a lot of time. However even with the lotion (which is reasonably priced) it does a number on around the base of your neck. I've passed the 21 day break in period and still that area takes a little bit of chewing up from the blades.

Nice wet shave, HORRIBLE dry shave

I got to use one of these recently. To summarize:
Pros
- really smooth shave when used wet (I mean, I didn't feel a thing)
- can be used with Nivea lotion (supplied), lather, foam or just wet your face
- easy to use (even refilling it with the lotion is not as hard as it seems)
- comes with detachable sideburn trimmer, which can be stored in the charging stand.
Now, Cons
- horrible dry shave - don't ever try it in the morning - it feels like it's pulling hair, not cutting it, missing half of it anyhow
- 4 hr charge? (really? - almost anything above $100 charges in less than an hour)
- BAD trade-off: you can take it in the shower, it's fully water-proof, but the blades are rudimentary - it's only three blades (as opposed to high end Norelco 9-bladed ones w/3 blades on each head) and it has slots only (no holes like in 8000 Norelco). Hence, the crappy shave.
- I already mentioned smooth, but LONG shave.
- Tedious maintenance

P.S. If you don't have a problem spending a little extra time shaving and shaving wet only - get it, it's one of the most plesant experiences. Nivea lotion rocks. I gave it four stars because despite all the downfalls, it FELT GOOD!

I like it!

I don't have heavy facial hair, but my early attempts using electric razors always proved unsatisfactory. I thought I was doomed to scrapes and nicks from blade razors the rest of my life.

Then Amazon.com advertised the Panasonic E80785 in their "Today's Deals" at a very tempting price. To me, this means that this model has been upgraded with a new model. Anyway, I checked the reviews and decided to get one.

Wow! This is a really great electric razor. Even when used dry it produces good results. But, when used wet, it is a dream fulfilled! After only a few days of use, my face feels softer and smoother - even my old wrinkled turkey neck is gently and cleanly shaved. I also really like the self cleaning feature, the cordless feature, number of shaves between necessary charges, and the high speed.

Of course, using a razor like this does cost more money than the old blade types. But if you love yourself at all, the obsolete Panasonic ES80785 should be high on your list of priorities - or the newest replacement model if you can afford it.

It's ok...not much more.

I've been using this razor for just about a year now after buying it as an Amazon Gold Box special. The blade is due for replacement, but I believe it's time to move along to another machine.

The pros:
It's inexpensive as far as decent electric razors go.

The shaving head is shaped to allow the razor to get in everywhere. I prefer the closeness of Norelco razors, but that edge that surrounds the discs on all of them prevents the razor from being able to get under my nose.

It provides a decent shave over most of my face, a passable shave over part of it, and a horrible shave over other parts.

The cons:
If I don't pre-clean the head before using the HydraClean base, the cartridge is only good for about eight uses. With pre-cleaning by holding the running unit under water with the cap off and rinsing the cap, the cartridges last a month or so.

After a bit shy of a year, the head is starting to dull. Now, it pulls instead of cuts (ouch!).

It's very slow. I have to pass the razor over certain areas of my face upwards of a dozen times from various directions to get a smooth shave. I can shave with a regular razor and wash off the excess shaving cream in close to half the time it takes to shave with this razor.

The cleaning cycle takes forever. I'm pretty sure the Panasonic has run more while being cleaned than it has while actually shaving.

Rating :

Excellent shaver

My first electric shaver, and I'm very impressed! I agree with the other reviews in that it works much better as a wet shaver than a dry shaver. The charging/cleaning base is a little large, just be sure that you have enough room for it.
The price at Amazon is the lowest I've found on the internet or in stores.

Cheaply made. Lame.

Well, I have used a Panasonic "Smooth Operator" razor for years.

Thought I might replace it with a brand new (and expensive) Panasonic.

When I got my new razor I was really surprised. It's a cheap, lightweight piece of plastic.

Also, the shave is nowhere near as good as my old razor.

I wish I could get my $$ back.
It just sits there, collecting dust.

What a step backwards for Panasonic!

Not impressed

I bought this to replace my Norelco three blade rotary razor. I never used this type of razor and have read its better and smother for sensitive skin so I decided to give it a try. When I first turned it on (at 4:30am) my dog went crazy barking which woke the wife. It's has a high pitch buzzing which is much louder than the Norelco. It is smoother on the skin only because it doesn't cut very well (except for the crack of my mouth when I tried to get shave close). It's hard to maneuver around the mouth and under the nose and leaves a considerable amount of uncut hair, especially on the neck. I have no opinion on the self cleaning. I guess it works but so did pulling the head off my Norelco and running under the water in the sink. I was excited after reading reviews on this razor however after using it for about a month I can now say I am very disappointed and am considering pulling out the old Norelco.

The Razorba® is the first back hair shaver for men. The Razorba® is the patented razor handle wand that holds your favorite razor, ergonomically designed and tested by men with back hair. It solves the problem of back hair by letting you shave at your convenience. It works with any standard razors (not included). It's quick and easy to insert or remove a razor. To use, simply insert a razor into the Razorba®, apply shaving cream and shave. With the Razorba® you get: fast & convenient back hair shaving, it's do it yourself, no pain, and no embarrassment. The Razorba® really works. This award winning revolutionary product invented the back hair shaver. It has been featured in: Maxim Magazine, USA Today, Stuff Magazine, MTV, Chicago Tribune and many other newspapers, magazines and television shows around the world. Blades dull, foils will fail, always choose a shaver with replaceable blades and foil. Otherwise, you will be stuck with an expensive disposable battery operated shaver. Using the Razorba®, you are always guaranteed a great shave, because the razor can be removed anytime you like. And you choose the blade. Use the very best Gillette or an inexpensive disposable. Laser treatment is expensive, requires multiple treatments, and won't thwart new hair growth(CNN). Waxing hurts! It rips the hair out. Eyebrows are one thing, but the surface area of your back is great and so is the pain. Chemicals/Creams dissolve the hair follicle. Skin irritation and scarring can occur. Shaving is easy & effective. But similar to the other methods requires a volunteer to help you. Combine the accessibility of reaching your own back, convenience of anytime and anywhere, with the best method of back hair removal-- shaving, and the solution is the Razorba®.

Pricey pc. of plastic

Yeah it works pretty good, but Way, Way, Way OVERPRICED. If they sold it at $10.00 plus shipping that would be somewhat reasonable and they would still be making a very nice profit. $30.00 is a rip off, Surgical tubing holds in the razor, nothing magic there, the rest is a flimsy 2 pc molded handle.

Once again it works pretty damn well, but the price is a rip off, dont be a sucker.

thank you!

Well finally!! Someone has made a product that men really need. For more years than I care to remember I have been suffering the sort of rash that only someone who duct tapes a bic disposable on to the BBQ spatula to shave with can understand. I have recommended this to so many of my friends who's wives & girlfriends are so grateful to me for not having to do "that chore" again. After all there is only so far you can push the "if you really love me" blackmail thing. In fact the only friend I have who didn't want one was my friend Phil who insists if a jobs worth doing then its got to be done with hot wax by his boyfriend Dalton. Oh well live & let live Phil.

Clean as a whistle!

While I couldn't use the exact razor I liked and had to buy a model that fit, the results were better than expected. I used a back brush first to lather up my back (I applied the shaving gel to the brush then wet it a little bit with water to lather it up). I then pulled the razorba up the length of my back to above the shoulder blades on both sides and once in the middle, then removed the blade and finished the shoulders by hand. In all the process took under 7 minutes for me and I do this twice a week. You will probably get the best results with your back to the bathroom mirror while using a hand held mirror to periodically check your progress.

I thoroughly recommend the Razorba for any man interested in removing hair from his back.

Buy this now!!!!

For years i was the typical guy that had some hair on my back. Every couple days i would twist and turn in an attempt to rid my back of what hair i could with a razor and my arm. Needless to say i got pretty good at it but often left spots that i had missed and took a long time in doing so. Along came this little beauty and my world lit up. The construction as others have said seems very flimsy but it holds up well. the angle with a razor attached is perfect and what took me 30 minutes now takes me less then 10. Its a great tool indeed. I would highly recommend this to anyone with some back hair they need to get rid of.

Don't they have robots for this yet?

Seriously hasn't NASA perfected a back hair robot for the astronauts? How else would they remove back hair with their space suits on? And if NASA hasn't I'm sure the Japanese have. Seriously, those guys have robots for everything. They have robot waiters now, and robot nannies, robot film critics and even robot geisha girls. It all started in the 60's when they invented a giant robot to help fight crime. Now you go to Japan, it's all robots.

I've read that this is because the population is aging and that Japanese people can't have children because they wear their pants too tight. For a while they dealt with this by just kidnapping children from other countries and passing them off as their own but the UN got suspicious when so many Japanese families started featuring 6 foot blondes who wouldn't eat seaweed.

Anyhoo, Seriously, this is also not ideal because it really requires a partner to use properly and my problem is that because of my back hair I DON'T have a partner. So it's Snatch-22.

Seriously, if I HAVE to have back hair then I'll just make lemons out of lemonade, as we've learned from so many Oprah episodes. I'll make the best of my back hair by maybe putting it in corn rows or dreads. Or I could dye it red and do a Pippi Longstocking motif.

And NASA drop your Tang and start working on my back hair robot!!! :)

Question : What razor to use when shaving male pubic hair?
What razor should I use when shaving pubic hair? I read online that female razors is the best way to go, and to not use an electric razor. The only problem is that I do not own a female razor, and I would feel pretty weird if I went up to a local store and purchased a female razor. Any advice?

Answer:
you can use anything

Question : Does shaving really make your hair grow faster and thicker?
If yes, will it eventually go back to normal if I stop shaving it for a while? If you have one, please give me a scientific explanation for why it does. I can't see how cutting the ends of your hairs can make it grow faster and thicker.

Answer:
It only seems to grow faster because you're having to shave again. It is not any thicker but only seems that way because the blunt end you shaved off is coming to the surface. The shape and texture of the hair is determined under the skin. Normal is the condition of the hair all the time, anyway. If you stop shaving, the hair will only be longer, not a different texture.

Question : How to shave my knees and underarms? Any good shaving tips?
I am a girl, and i have been shaving my underarms for like 2 years, and even when i shave, my underarms still look dark. its like you can see the hair under the stin before it comes up again, do you know what i mean? and how to you solve this? i have dark hair, so blondes (luckily) dont really have this problem. ??? Ok question #2 is how do i shave my knees? i always think i get them really good in the morning but then i realize after that i missed a bunch. how do you shave your knees? is there anyway you do to keep them smooth ? do you shave your knees when your legs are straight or when they are bent and the skin is pulled taunt? please help! thank you! ♥ also do you have any other shaving tips for girls?

Answer:
I use a venus breeze and i love it!! oky let your underarm hair grow for about two days after that shave up and down and side to side and criss cross.your hair under your arms grows in different direstions and i had the same problem you do until i tried this. you might want to use venus or try using a guys razor that has four blades. and buy shaving cream that stands the hair up so you get a closer shave.and for your knees try nair or hair removal lotion. make sure to cover your entire knee in the lotion and bend it to make the skin tight. hope this helps

Question : Does shaving facial hair allow hair to grow where it hasnt before?
I know shaving doesnt speed up the growing process. I recently shaved and i noticed my beard was a bit thicker and darker, there are actually some areas on my face that hair is growing where it hasnt grown before. I want to have a full beard chinstrap, shoul i shave the areas where there isnt hair to allow the hairless areas to grow?

Answer:
Shaving doesn't make hair grow. It just started growing there and you didn't notice because you were shaving that area.

Question : what is the best shaving razor for women?
I need to buy a shaving razor but I don't know which one is good. I've been using the regular gillete but that's not working so well. What shaving razors would you recommend? I mean to shave like leg and underarm hair? btw, are schik razors good? my mom uses one of those and it has two blades.

Answer:
I reccomend the Venus Embrace. I have a LOT of trouble finding a good razor - I had trouble with Gillete too. Once I tried the Venus, my legs and under arms were the smoothest they've been in MONTHS.. aka I could actually SKIP a day! Definitely check it out - plus there's satisfaction guaranteed, so what's to lose?!

Question : What is the better product to use when shaving for a guy to eliminate ingrown hairs?
I keep getting ingrown hairs from shaving . I use been a gel for a mach 3 razor , but then I changed to a shaving creme. What do you think is better for you to get stop the ingrown hairs?

Answer:
My husband has this same problem and he uses a cream that is Rx only. The tube is Dark yellow and brown and on it it says Clioquinol 3% with Hydrocortisone 1% cream. I believe its by Qualitest. This cream works very well for him.

Question : How old do you have to be to start shaving your facial hair?
I only have hair on my stache, is it a good idea to shave only there? What are some pros and cons in shaving early and at a younge age? When i say "younge age" i mean early teens. What should i use to shave such as a one bladed razer or three bladed? Any good company that has good shaver? What makes a good shaver? Will my skin be erritaded by shaving? Do you have any tips on shaving? Should i wait until i'm older to shave or shave now? What's the best type of shaver? Whats the best type of shaving cream? The hair is very visible. And will my skin be effected in any way? Is it better to shave up and down or across?

Answer:
I started shaving when I was about 15. When you should start depends on genetics really. Some males just have more hair than others, and they start developing facial earlier or later. Shaving will irritate your skin at first. My suggestion is to use a hot, moist towel on your face before you begin shaving. This will open up your pores, and make the hairs stand up. Then carefully shave with a razor. I use a razor with 3 blades, but it really doesn't matter. Any razor will do as long as you don't hurry. Shave with the grain of your hair. I get a better result shaving downwards, but you can shave upwards too. After you finish shaving, wash your face with cold water. This closes off the pores in your skin and prevents irritation. Then finish off by splashing your face with a mild after shave. This kills any germs and prevents those little red bumps. I hope this helped you out.

Question : Shaving>??
Ok so, When i shave "down there" how can i take care of it so it looks nice. There are like red bumps and stuff, it just doesnt look good. How do u make it look good?

Answer:
Oh I know this will sound crazy but my husband started using my facial foam cleanser to shave and he swears by it leaving a closer softer shave, so I started using it on my legs and private parts and OH YEAH it works. The product is Papaya Enzyme Foam Cleanser by Bee Luscious Cosmetics ...Good Luck it really does work

Question : Does shaving cream take the paint off of vehicles?
I'm planning a prank, but I don't want to harm any property. I need to know if shaving cream will harm a vehicle in any way.

Answer:
Shaving cream can be washed off easily. for your prank to be more effective, use something like nivea cream. it's really greasy and hard to come off. someone had done it to our teacher (happy times), they'd put lots of blobs of nivea cream (could be any other greasy cream=as in moisturizer) all over the car and then put little balls of coloured cotton wool on each of them. looked great, but you should have heard him swear...

Question : How do I get rid of facial hair without shaving?
There are some places in my face where I prefer not to shave. Is there any hair removal creame or anything else that I can use? I don't want the hair to grow back thick which happens after shaving.

Answer:
Try Sally Hansen Creme Hair Remover for the face. It's excellent.
