It works well. I've found it best to use before wiskers get too long.

I bought this shaver for my husband for our anniversary, and he said it's a great razor for a first timer using electric razors. However, the process of shaving is longer than using a regular razor. Overall, a great buy for the price!

Norelco 7140

I've used the Norelco for years with very good performance. This particular model is OK for light shaving (I only keep it in my motorhome)but does not have the better motor or shaving heads as top line models.Also, this model does not feature a low battery warning light so it's a guessing game as to when charging is needed. However, it's good value for the money.

Not Bad, Not Great

I've been using the shaver for a little over 3 months now. It's very quiet, the charge lasts a couple of weeks, but the shaver takes 3 to 4 swipes over a 1-day growth stubble to fully cut it to a somewhat smooth level. The sideburn trimmer is useless - have to use a razor there. Also have to use a razor for errant neck hairs. All in all, not bad but not great.

Better than Braun!

I've been using the Braun 8995 shaver for over two years and switched to this Panasonic shaver a couple of days ago. I got a very close shave on first use without the nicks and cuts of the Braun. Also unlike the Braun this Panasonic shaver unit hardly vibrates although it does make a loud wining noise. The big difference between the two is that you can use the Panasonic in the shower with shaving cream which I consider a big plus. However the Panasonics recharging base is harder to use than the Brauns but you can also wash the Panasonic shaver under warm water without using its recharging base, saving on the cost of having to buy detergent cleaning cartridges every month. Another thing I like about the ES822S model is it is made in Japan not China which is rare these days.

I've owned Panasonic Shavers previously and have always liked them. This shaver, by far, surpasses any shaver, of any brand that I have ever used. It is lightweight, can be used wet or dry, shaves very closely, holds a charge for nearly 2 weeks!, has an automatic cleaning base, and is beautiful! I know two other guys who also got this shaver, and they feel exactly as I do... *****!

Great Shaving System

My husband loved this. Great Shaver....great cleaning system. Performs as advertised.
However, he will keep his old Norelco for traveling. New one would be bulky to travel with if he took the cleaning system with it.

Most disappointing Norelco yet.

I've used Norelco products for 30 years and this is the only one that has ever disappointed me. It creates skin burn and takes forever to actually shave your beard and I don't even have a tough beard. After 6 months, the cleaning stand system quit working.

I pulled out my old Norelco Cool Skin 7775X, recharged it and was surprised at how much better of a shave I got with the old razor. Now I need to find a replacement head for the old one and trash the Arcitec.

Norelco makes great products, this is the exception that proves the rule.

Close comfortable shave for an electric

I'm generally pleased after using the shaver for about three weeks. I had a Remington, the type where the whole cutting head is supposedly to be replaced monthly ( for almost $6.00 ) and was very unhappy with it. The Norelco is expensive but as I shave daily I think it's worth it. I found the instruction booklet confusing at times.

The best yet

I have been shaving my face with Norelco razors for over 30 years and the last 4 or so I have been shaving my head as well. The added stress on the razor is huge. While I probably have had 3 razors in the space of the first 20 years of shaving I have had three in the last 5 years including this one. While I was satisfied with the previous versions of the Norelco this one stands out. It does a much better job on my head without sacrificing the quality on my face. Time will tell on the life of this razor, but I can already testify the quality of the shave is outstanding.

Excelent Product

I have used a Norelco shaver for many years. The 8160 SpeedXL is the best of the Norelco shavers I have used. It provides a close shave in a short amount of time. The unit is also much lighter than previous models I have used. Some of the reviews I read prior to the purchase did cause me to question whether I would like this model, but my concerns vanished when I actually used the shaver.

Very Good, Not Great

I have been a Norelco user for more than 35 years. When I got this razor I was amazed at how quiet it was and how closely it shaved. Even my wife noticed the difference. There are no comfort settings, but I did not need any, it was a good shave and not so close that I got ingrown hairs on my face. The charge lasted more than 3 weeks

I thought the cleaning system was a little "cheesy." It does okay cleaning, but you do not want to recharge every time you needc to clean. Loved the razor, but would not get the cleaning system again.

my first norelco

I have tried many types of facial hair removal, but i cannot get rid of ingrown hairs without sacrificing a close shave. after the 21 days of skin adjustment, as stateed in the directions, i have a clean shaved face with no bumps. i clean the razor once a week using the solution. i brush the head after every use. i am very happy with this product and it is worth the money. But i did not get a close shave until a couple of weeks after use. So hang in there and follow directions.

Good Product - Minor Flaw

Overall, this product is a nice upgrade from my Remington R9170. The only caveat I have is the same one others have noted, after your razor self cleans you need to remove it from the cleaner and let it dry overnight...a wet shave isn't a good shave with this product. This razor provides a closer shave than my Remington ever did. Occassionaly a hair or two will need a few brush overs to get, but that's hardly an inconvience.

great shaver, cleaning system superfluous

This is my 4th Norelco, going back quite a few years. My last one was not very good, although the first two were great. The 8160 shaves very close and can handle a two day growth. How long an electric razor stays sharp is very related to how clean it is kept, as hair in the heads will dull the blades faster. To that end, Norelco ships this razor with a motorized stand to clean the razor heads. Basically what it does is submerge the razor in the cleaning fluid and turn it on and off occasionally. So you need not buy the XLCC, just buy the 8160 XL. You can submerge the razor in fluid yourself and turn it on and off a few times to do the same thing, and not have to worry about having space to store the stand. I'm experimenting with making my own cleaning fluid, which as far as I can tell is distilled water with a small amount of glycerine and a bit of an additive such as photo-flo which breaks the surface tension of the water so it will drain right off.

One huge improvement over my prior Norelcos is the ability to rinse the razor throroughly with hot water. It does an excellent job of cleaning the razor, and then the fluid bath is only really needed to condition the heads. You can also buy a silcone spray which lubricates the heads to have them wear better. So save some money but make sure the razor you buy is washable and water tight. I highly recommend the razor itself.

Decent Shaver

The Wahl Bump-Free Shaver is a nice shaver for those who cannot use your typical razor, however the trimmer portion of the shaver is somewhat useless still have to use my trimmers.

This is truly a good product; it gives a comfortable shave and does an exceptionally good job in not breaking the skin. I could tell this from the first time I applied after shave--the second time, I used moisturizer and neither burned or irritated. I recommend this shaver for anyone moving from razor to electric shaver.

This shaver is ok. It is not as good as Remington's old Black Man's Shaver. It does not cut the single strands of fine hair. It does cut short stubble well. For the money though it does ok.
