Braun 360 electric shaver

Though a tad noisier than I'd like, this is the best electric shaver I have owned. Shaving includes no irritation, is fast, and comes the closest to a new blade shave of any electric I have owned including: Norrelco (several models), Remington, Grundig, Panasonic.

My recommendation for this excellent shaver is enthusiastic.

Rating :

Improvement over old Norelco rotary shaver

The Braun is an improvement over my old Norelco rotary shaver.
It isn't as close as a blade, but it is a step closer. I also like the cleaning system. Cost may be a consideration.

Braun Series 5 8995 Men's Shaver

I have found the braun Series 5 8995 Men's Shaver to be the best electric shaver I have ever used, far superior to Remington and Norelco. Prior to this purchase I had been using a blade because of dissatisfaction with previous electric shavers. It took about a week to adapt to electric shaving again and I couldn't be happier. I love the cleaning and recharging base. This is a feature no one else offers. It keeps the shaver very clean and automatically maintains optimum battery health. This is, without a doubt, the best electric shaver on the market today.

Not worth the price

I thought this would be a great razor but the shave is not good. My old Norelco does a much better and cost a lot less.

Rating :

Greater razor, lousy foil

I really like the 8995 razor, it does a very good job shaving. The problem I have, the foil tends to break every 2-3 months. When I add that expense in, it tends to be very expensive.

Norelco 8240XL Speed-XL Electric Razor

Customer Review :

Pretty good shaver

I rarely use an electric shaver, so I may not be the best to rate this as opposed to other shavers. However, I do grow facial hair and need it cut.... so, I can rate it from that aspect.
This razor did a very nice job at shaving. I've been using it for about a month now and I am liking it. It seems sharp even after a months use. Cleans easy enough with a rinse, occasional brushing out helps keep things running smooth also.
It has a nice fit in my hand which makes it easy to work with, having arthritis. And it does seem to follow the contour of my face well enough that I'm not having to go over a number of areas and having to change how I hold it. I like the fact of antimicrobial coating on the inside, where moisture and hair and dead skin collects. I just wonder how long it lasts.
All in all, I would say this is a good purchase and worth the money.

From a female POV: Decent but not mind-blowing

While I understand this shaver was designed for men, this review is from a woman's perspective. It was for my partner, but he didn't care for it, and despite my cajoling, refused to endure the 2 weeks recommended in the instructions for adjusting from blade to electric. I myself have used mens' Norelco shavers in the past, and I do like the flexibility of a tidy, dry shave, especially when traveling, but you never get as close a cut as with a blade razor, and this is no exception. It's handy to be able to shave in the car (not driving, of course), and it did a nice job on my legs (though my leg hair isn't very coarse), but was awful on my underarms. Aside from the rinse feature, which is nice, I didn't find any improvement in use or shave over the last norelco I bought 10 years ago. I do have to note that the moustache/beard trimmer is great for quick bangs touch-ups, but overall, I wouldn't recommend it for women.

I guess I'm not a fan of electric shavers

Having read all of the positive reviews, I wonder to myself if we're talking about the same product. I admit to being a blade user but all the "close as a blade" advertising made me decide to give it a try.

After getting the nearly impossible packaging open the first thing that sours me is the lack of some kind of rechargeable base or stand I can put the razor into when I'm done. It doesn't seem like too much to ask for considering this is a $100 product and leaving the razor and a power cord lying around is a hassle.

The Norelco looks and feels nice in my hand with a nice big on/off switch and it's noticably quieter than the Norelco I owned years ago. The one difference I see now is the entire base rotates up and down as opposed to just the blades in my old shaver. But looks aren't as important as performance in my opinion so let's talk about the shave.

First let me say my skin probably hasn't been toughened up by constant shaving. Being self employed, my face has lived the life of luxury as shaving is mostly optional and, when done, it's with an electric trimmer for a 5 o'clock shadow. A blade is used only when necessary. I flip on the Norelco, go to work on my shadow and... YEEEOOWWW!!! Ripping and tearing through my face like a hatchet through the jungle. It's a bloody mess. More pain when I put on the aftershave. I get irritation using a blade but this is so bad the irritation doesn't stop even after the aftershave stop burning. They said it'd take a while (as long as a month) for your skin to 'adjust' but they didn't say you wouldn't be able to show your face in public. What was shaving with a Norelco like? Like falling off a motorcycle at 50mph and hitting the pavement, face first.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I stuck it out for a full month. Future sessions weren't as bloody but they sure did hurt and irritation continues to linger even after applying aftershave. The frequent yank of hairs being ripped out is not the most pleasant feeling in the world. Worst of all the resulting shave is certainly not as close as a blade. I might look shaved but I still feel the bristles. It's a laborious process as well, rubbing over the same hairs over and over as a lot gets missed. Shaving with an electric takes longer than a blade even with the added time spent applying shaving cream and rinsing off.

I gave it the college try but after a month I'm sticking with a blade, thanks. Gillette's Mach II and Mach III razors and some quality shaving cream have done me fine. I'm not saving any time using an electric and I'm in a lot less pain using a blade.

Good

Works well, holds a long charge and is easy to clean. It's pricey , but worth it for a quick shave.

Good basic shaver

This shaver does one thing and one thing only: shaves your beard. Luckily, it does it well and--this is rather important for me--reasonably quietly. The quiet part comes in handy when you have a girlfriend sleeping a few feet down the hall who has the good fortune of being able to sleep in longer than you, and you'd rather not make her cranky by waking her up with the grinding whir of a loud shaver. This one also holds a charge for a good long time (I can easily get a week out of one charge), and then, when the battery does run low, it re-charges very quickly (a couple of hours does it, rather than the 6 or 8 hours required by some older models). The reason this little baby does not rate five stars is because it does nothing else: no trimmer for sideburns, no closeness adjustments, no attachments of adjustments of any kind. You have two options with this shaver: on or off. It is so simple in fact that I find their description "Men's Shaving System" sort of funny. This is a system? But, if you're looking for a nothing fancy, no-frills electric razor, this one does the job.

HUSBAND'S COMMENTS

Purchased for my husband. He is very satisfied with this product and would recommend it.

Adequate Electric Shaver

I used this shaver for 2 years and it was inexpensive and reliable. Not having a battery that could fail was nice, but being tethered to the wall at the same time my wife wanted to blow dry her hair was pain.

This shaver a does decent job cutting the hairs on my face, but it left my skin really dry. Also, if I skipped 2 days shaving so my beard was a little longer, it would pull the hairs really badly and hurt to shave with. The shape of the heads made shaving my sideburns (along my ear) and under my nose difficult and I always had to clean up those areas with my Mach3. Last, it left lots of hairs on my neck that had to be cleaned up (like almost all electric shavers).

I recently bought a Braun 8975 foil shaver to replace my Norelco and could not be happier. I always thought Norelco's Lift and Cut technology gave the closest shave of all the electric shavers, but I found that not to be the case. Additionally, I found that the foil shaver doesn't pull on my beard when I skip a couple days.

All in all, this is a good shaver for the price, but now that I know what you get if you pay a little more, I think you are better off to save your money and buy a better electric shaver.

Good razor for the price

This corded razor shaves reasonably well, but takes longer and more effort than my old Quadra. However, I abanoned the Quadra because the battery was wearing out and the blades cost almost as much as this whole razor.
I like the corded feature because there is no battery to wear out over time. Of course, the razor is lighter than the Quadra because there is no battery, and it tends to make a bit of a shrill sound from time to time.
Overall, though I like it and would likely buy another when this one wears out.

Philips Norelco 6423

This is an exceptional shaver. It is not rechargable but that was not a factor in choosing it. It's very quite and does a wonderful job. I'm not sure if this item is now discontinued from Norelco or not but I hope not because it is one of their best models and designs. I found several other models from this company that had lots of "extras" and were the rechargable type but for a basic electric razor that is corded...this the one!!!

Norelco improves corded shaver

I've been buying the Norelco corded shaver for years. It's easy to select because Norelco normally has only one such model. And each model proves to be kind of the same as the previous model...pretty much the same quality shave, okay but not anything special. So you can see how surprised I am to find this year's model is absolutely superior to previous models. The heads appear to have had a design change, although they closely resemble my last unit (5 years old). The difference is in the shave! This razor provides a much closer shave, something I did not expect. Also this razor is very quiet, more quieter than previous models. I do hope these improvements do not disappear after a few months use. Time will tell.

A decent product but my old razr was better

I used the previous generation of these razors (Norelco Coolskin 7775X) for almost 2 years and was very happy with it. This one is thinner, lighter and probably better one but does not do the job as good as previous generation razors.

rashes the skin

gives a very close shave no doubt. but this product kind of misleads. it gives you a waring that you will take sometime to adjust to this product and gives you trial period of 1 month. Its been 6 months that i have been using this but there are rashes each time i use this. Its very hard for one to clear all the beard on the face, it does leave 1 or 2, which doesnt cut at all and finally i have to use my razor for the final touches. i would say: not worth the price.

Best shave since highschool

First of all, I didn't buy this product from Amazon cause I'm in Canada. Yet reading the reviews here helped me make up my mind so I decided to give back a little.

I've had problems with shaving all my life and the last 4 years I moved to trimming twice a week rather than shaving. Yet when I got this shaver I tried in the shower and it was amazing. Clean shave, no irritation; a feeling I missed for years.

Pros:
- Excellent close shave
- Lightweight
- Waterproof
- Not noisy
- Affordable

Cons:
- Might feel a little cheap on the plastic side
- The Nivea cream is expensive and so far I can't find a cheaper alternative
- The travel bag is useless (not that I care)

It's "Alright"

Let me first say that I am in the Marine Corps right now, so we have to shave, Daily. Not only that, but sometimes you have to shave 2-3 times a day. When you shave that much your hair on your face gets stronger and comes back faster. I was looking for a good shaver and noticed the outstanding reviews for this item. Looked good and my own mother got interested in it and bought it for me as an early birthday gift. I tried it out and the first shave was fantastic. My face tingled so much I was like "Oh wow, I know what I'm getting my father for his birthday this year."

After a couple more shaves with it though (and cleaning it) it felt like my face had become something epic like. I didnt fully notice it until I got to work and went to the restroom and looked in the mirror that I saw the shaver didn't cut as close as it did before. Nothing changed in my shaving, not the time, nothing. I'm still fiddling with it and hoping that this is just the shaver and that I can send it back and get a replacement if it is bad. If not, well... It was good while it lasted :)

Solid Shaver, a little loud

This is my second braun electric shaver, the first was circa 1980's. While my old shaver worked well for my face it couldnt cut most hairs on my neck. i switched to razors about five years ago but decided to try electrics again because I would constantly get ingrown hairs and razor burn even though I would use the best shaving gel and lotion aftershave. I have to shave everyday and would usually shave again if i was going out the same night. Ive been using this shaver for about a month with good results. Its a little loud but it can shave my neck well. I pay more attention to the direction of hair growth to get the best shave, running my hand over my face to see which areas need another pass. this electric will give you a very smooth shave with no irritation if you take your time and give your facial hair about a month to adjust.

Great product, but not sure if it's worth the price

Honestly this razor rocks. The battery life is fantastic, the shave is better than good, and the self cleaning keeps the thing in top working condition. I paid the price because I believe you get what you pay for but I really can't say if this is worth the price. My 10 year old Panasonic actually gave a closer shave and it wasn't half the price of this one. Would be nice if you could try before you buy.

Best Electric Shaver I Have Ever Used!

Simply the best, better than all the rest.

I have owned many electric shavers from Braun, Remington, Norelco, No frills brands etc. This one out shines them all in every category its like using shaving cream and a blade.

The reviewer who said they had used a Braun Shaver for 17 years then tried this and didn't like it saying his old one was better well after that many years. Your going to have to give any razor some time for your skin, hair etc to get use to it.

It charges fast and cleans even faster, The closeness of the shave is good at 6 months as it was when first used!

The main question is do you want to spend this much on a razor well if you want a very close shave and high quality precision then the answer is yes!

no

I've been using a Braun 7526 for the past 7-8 years. It was satisfactory. My new Braun 9585 is far superior. The shave I get is much closer. Usually, I finish my shave with a wet Gillette razor to get the nubs. I can eliminate this step sometimes, depending on the day.
I do not clean my 9585 daily. In my opinion, it is not necessary.

Braun 760 shaver

This is beyond a doubt the best shaver I've ever owned. There's no need to stretch the skin or to make multiple passes, and the close and smooth shaves come without any skin irritation. The cleaning facility also works well.

Questions & Answers
Question : Are there any electric shavers that can be used for every day shaving?
Usually people say that you have to have a long hair to use an electric shaver. But I would prefer an electric shaver for everyday use if there are any. do all these need a hair to be grown for 2 or 3 days to a week to use any electric shavers or can be used daily just like a mac razors.

Answer:
The best as far as comfort (razor burn) and closeness is the Norelco Advantage that dispenses shave gel as you shave. Remember the cheaper the elector razor the more one sacrifices in comfort and closeness of trim. Shave gel cartridges cost about $1 and last for about a month. Norelco is the leader in the electric razor field with its circular cutting heads.

Question : What are those plastic cases that have the shavers in them for?
I was at Vons today and I have seen this in a bunch of grocery stores before. Is there a point to them? sorry that this is the topic this goes in, i couldnt find anything else

Answer:
it's to prevent people under 18 from buying them (especially since the whole teen cutting thing took off). and it's also to prevent people from shop lifting them.

Question : I have really bad shavers bumps, how can I get rid of them?
I use a double blade manual razor. I use creamy body wash and soap to shave. When I am done, there are red bumps starting from my knees to my ankles. Some are red and bumpy and some are like little black dots. How can I cure them?

Answer:
Don't press too hard and use shave gel! Also, use some aloe vera gel after you shave. It soothes the bumps, and prevents them.

Question : How should I shave? razor or electric shavers?
I have a lot of acne on my face and I don't know what kind of razor is suitable for my skin. What do you suggest: electric shavers e.g. Philips Norelco or razors e.g. Gillette Fusion Power? If electric shaver is better, which kind of them will you suggest? Philips CoolSkins, SpeedXL, arcitec, ...

Answer:
Well I'm a girl so I never shave my face, but I know from shaving my legs if you use a razor and you have a spot or bump on your legs it cuts you,so I think your only option it to use eletric shavers,The most well knowen brands are probable best, why not ask at a chemist or weaever you bye your saver, they bound to know what is most popular and what works best good luck!

Question : Anybody out there use one of those Panasonic electric shavers with the wet shave feature?
Just wondering if anyone uses one of these and how well it works. I was wondering why you would use the wet shave feature with an electric, as I thought that when you use an electric shaver that your supposed to do it when your face is dry, before you take a shower. I've used an electric before, but only this way (dry-before a shower), and was just wondering how well they work when you use them wet or in the shower. Thanks. Does it shave closer though when used wet? Does it feel/shave better when wet?

Answer:
yeah i have, its just real cool like. it feels nice

Question : Does anyone know if the specialty pubic shavers work better than a regular shaver?
I want a very close, smooth shave.

Answer:
I agree, Venus gets very close and smooth, I have tried the "bikini" shavers and they are not great, they tend to "catch" the hairs and pull them. I go completely bare and I always use my Venus razor, make sure you get the battery poered one cause I think that they have a disposable Venus now, also, make sure that you use a shaving lotion, they are better than shaving cream, Melaleuca has an all natural one that I use that has botanicals and other great stuff in it.

Question : Are there any quiet shavers in the market? What brand and model?
I am looking for a shaver (rotary or linear) that will not be too loud while shaving.

Answer:
Try blades, son. Schick Quattro!

Question : Which is better for razor bumps (ingrown hairs) on the neck, electric shavers or blades?
Any suggestions? I get razor bumps around my neck area, currently using a blade (mach 3), will changing to an electric razor cause more problems or help?

Answer:
don't try to shave over ingrown hairs. You need to put warm compress on the skin and then exfoliate to remove the skin covering the hair if it's not to deep. Use a loofah and maybe a mild facial scrub or something. Then always make sure your skin is soft before shaving and use a good shave gel. & a good rasor. and use an after shave.

Question : Does anyone know where to find repair manuals for newer shavers?
I am looking for repair manuals for electric shavers made from 2000 on. Has anyone worked on these shavers? Are they hard to work on?Can I buy the manuals from the manufacturer?

Answer:
contact the company that made it companys that deal in them and ask them couse i have no idea

Question : Are there any good body shavers that can remove just a little bit of hair?
I'm not talking about shaving every hair on your body, just removes some of them for a lighter look. Which ones are there?

Answer:
use wax's or don't do anything.
