Great Shave
This is the first electric shaver I have ownned since the late 1950's. It is a definate improvement over the shavers from that err. I am especially impressed that it can shave away four day stubble in a reasonable amount of time. The clipper between the two foils is responsible for that. Definately reccomend this shaver to others especially to those that do not shave every day.

high expectation, low performance
Owned braun shavers most of my life... really enjoyed previous models performance until this one. Positive - the shaver charges fast and it is light. Now the negatives. It does not shave evenly especially around the corners of the chin. Also the trimmer is absolutely horrible - it failed to trim much at all and if it does, catches hair and tug on it. Would not recommend at it.

Superbly engineered
The Braun 370 shaver is beautifully designed and made. It's quieter and more sturdy than the 400 series I'm replacing it with. Even the sideburn-beard trimmer works better. I can't think of anything that could be improved.

Smooth but can't tackle a tough beard
The shave unit is certainly smooth, but it can't tackle a tough beard. I still need to finish with a razor. The trimmer unit is junk at best. For the price this product is no better than a cheap Braun Shaver.

ok for the price
I have been using electric shavers for over 50 years. This is my first Braun. A lot depends on 3 things, facial shape, type of whiskers(fuzz, course etc)and skin type. This shaver is ok for the price. It took me at least twice as long to get a shave that was ALMOST equal to my Norelco. Like I said, it depends on the 3 things above. May return it or let my son try it and see.

Norelco RQ10 Shaving Heads
Customer Review :
Good deal
Amazon sell this for about half what phillips/norelco website sells it for. Great deal if you own a Arcitec shaver

Replacement Heads work fine
My advice to anyone that uses this shaver - Replace the heads as soon as any visible wear occurs. Otherwise you can get many small cuts you won't notice at first but will progressively worsen.
Rating :
Very High Tech
The Shave: The floating heads on the Norelco electric shaver really do a good job of conforming to the curves of my face. It takes me about five minutes to shave according to the built in timer on the handle. The shave is much more uniform than that of the Braun 3615 that I have been using for the past few years. However, the shave is not as close. Before the Braun, I used a Norelco 5801. This model is a big improvement over the old Norelco which was slow and not very close at all.. The trade-off with respect to the Braun is one of a closer shave using the Braun vs. a more uniform shave with the new Norelco.
Maintenance: The clippings are collected in pockets under the shaving heads, This is an advantage in that the clippings are not scattered over the bathroom sink as they are with some electric razors. The pockets have to be cleaned out every shave or two. This is not a big problem. It only takes a few seconds. The manual indicates that the RQ10 shaving head assembly must be replaced every year. Amazon offers the RQ10 for $35. By contrast the Braun cutter and foil assembly which lasts for about one year sells on Amazon for around $24.
If you are buying this product, I suggest that you search Amazon and Google for the best price.

DOES A POOR JOB OF SHAVING
i PURCHASED THIS, WHAT i ASSUMED TO BE NEW shaving part for my Norelco electric razor. I threw away the old part but thnk this one does a very poor job of shaving. I even tried using preshave which, I never had to do with the original blades. I feel the new part is not as good as what I had. In reading the manual for my norelco, which is just a little over a year, it said once a year you did need to replace the shaving bladss. This I did but cannot understand how it does such a poor job. I use my automatic cleaner and new fluid etc. I am reverting back to the old shaving creme and regular manual razor to get a decent shave. Glad you asked for this review. Chuck Wood

New replacment blades for Arcitec Shaver
Hi, When I bought the Arcitec I bought a spare replacement head. About a year later put it in the razor what a good difference. I knew I would want to do this again. So when I saw the price break on Amazon, I ordered the replacement blades. The reason I did not give 5 stars was not the product or price but the fact that I had to pay shipping even through I am a prime shipping member. For $280/year think all shipments would be included, no matter what excuses Amazon gives. You can bet I will not be getting prime again.

norelco shaver
The shaver doesn't satisfy as far as shaving around the sideaburns, ears, and nose areas. Yes, it may be fine in the neck area, however that is a small part of a normal shave for me. I prefer the other style.

Fantastic Improvement
Have used Norelco shavers for 30+years. This unit is by far the very best!. It is closer, more versatile, and sleeker than any product on the market, I love it!!!!!

VERY EXPENSIVE AND SLOW
I BOUGHT THIS AS A GIFT FOR MY HUSBAND, AFTER READING ABOUT THIS NEW RAZOR. 1ST VERY EXPENSIVE 2ND TAKES FOREVER TO SHAVE AND 3RD NOT A VERY CLOSE SHAVE. NOT VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE.

Newer is not always Better.
I've been using Norelco rotary shavers for the last 20+ years. I've always found them to work well and be fairly comfortable. After a few years use, instead of replacing the heads and/or battery again, I pick up the latest top of the line Norelco that's available. The Arcitec 1090 looked awesome, and I was looking forward to using it when I received it. What a disappointing product. Bottom line, it does not work nearly as well as my Quadra Action or SmartTouch XL models. I gave it some time thinking maybe my skin needed to adjust to it, but it has not improved. It just gives a poor, uncomfortable shave. I've since returned it, and ordered new heads for my older Norelco. I would seriously think twice before spending $200 on this product.
Rating :
A disappointment
I have used Norelco shavers for over 30 years. It is now a Philips Norelco and I have found it to be a great disappointment. Out of the box the shaves were impressive but using it over a six month period, my satisfaction with it evaporated. I recently ordered replacement blades for my previous Norelco model and have retired the Arcitec. The Arcitec blades seem to dull materially quicker then previous models. It does not work on cord and in my view does not travel well. The blades individually lift for cleaning and the stubble pit is too shallow. I have always owned top of the line Norelcos. Not sure they still exist, but if your choice is this or a more traditional Norelco...choose that.

This product is far too complex for the benefits received. It has a 30+ page instuction book that it is suggested one reads before using. I own a Norelco dry shaver electric razor and a panosonic wet shave electric razor. None shave as close as a cheap Bic or any brand plastic razor. This razor has a stand for charging and a clipper type of attachment. By the time you have read the detailed instuction book you have to go back to figure out exactly how to do something. The cream that comes from the razor is like a lubricant and allows the razor to glide smoothly across one's face. Nice! I haven't had to purchase another can so I am relatively satisfied with that feature until I get hit with sticker shock for buying a replacement. Having used it now for a couple months (they recommend that you use it a few months to get accustomed to it) I consider my evaluation as being legitimate. I would not purchase this shaver--I could buy a couple years of plastic manual razors and not have to read and reread the instruction manual. It is far too complex for the purpose at hand.

Shaver 5 Stars - Trimmer 1 Star
The Philips Norelco 8060X moisturizing shaving system has the potential to be the best shaver I have ever owned. Certainly it still has to pass the test of time which to this point has only been a little less than three months. The 8060X gives a close, comfortable shave particularly when you press the blue button to apply Nivea shaving conditioner to your face directly through two holes in the center of two of the three shaving heads. There is a small reservoir in the shaver which can be filled automatically with conditioner from the Nivea bottle while the unit is charging. I have already learned to scale back my use of this conditioner to only a couple of pumps for each shave, which hopefully will allow one to get many shaves from a bottle of conditioner - I have yet to use up one bottle. If you overuse the conditioner, it can get expensive. The shaving conditioner delivery system is great and makes for a comfortable shaving experience. The pivoting blades are very good, but the trimmer is awkward to use and not nearly as good as what many other shavers have. You have to mount the trimmer in place of the main shaving heads on the shaver. In my opinion the trimmer is too small and operates too slowly to be effective - it appears to be a poor aferthought. Underarm shaving is not good with any part of this system, but maybe it wasn't meant to be. This shaver excels in convex facial skin areas, but not concave underarm areas at least for this user.

Not as good as the old Advantage
I'm a long-time blade shaver, but every 3-4 years I go on an electric shaver kick and use it for about a year. I've never found a single electric razor that shaves as close as a blade, but I used to own a Norelco Advantage that gave a decently close shave that was pretty comfortable and didn't irritate my neck.
This is supposed to be the upgrade to the Advantage, but after just a few days of use my neck is chewed up far worse than it ever has been with any other electric. It's annoying enough that I'm not willing to "wait it out" for the 30-day trial period that Norelco recommends, and I'll be returning it next week.
That being said, I can see from the other ratings that many people have had a lot of success with this shaver. Part of my problem may be that I'm a shaving perfectionist and if I'm not getting a close shave in a given area I'll go over it again a few times until the hairs are cut off. It boggles my mind that I can run an electric shaver over a patch of stubble and the stubble will sit there, unaffected, as if nothing at all had happened. You don't see that happening with blades...
So in summary: Pros: auto-filling lotion cartridge, waterproof, quick charging, does glide well over face (no irritation WHILE shaving, but boy you'll feel it later) Cons: seems to cause ingrown hairs at a higher rate than its predecessors, very high neck irritation, lotion seems to drip off of razor head while shaving, not a very close shave. NO ELECTRIC IS EVER AS CLOSE AS A BLADE, so I wish that Norelco and Braun would stop claiming such.

Best Norelco Shaver, EVER!
I've been using Norelco shavers for years. I remember the first one I bought was a basic corded shaver. I currently own 4 Norelco shavers and this one is the best. I love the auto shaving lotion fill dispenser that comes with this unit. But what I loved the most was how good this razor feels as you are shaving. It has the best overall design as it relates to comfort while shaving, from the floating heads with the glide ring, to it's thinner, lighter weight. This razor does not have a chamber to collect the cut hair, so you may not want to use it as a dry shaver after putting on a white shirt, but it is the perfect shower shaver, which is where I use it. I LOVE MY NEW NORELCO 8060X. Did I mention how well this new design shaves tough to get places like your upper lip/nose area? No more missed hairs just below the nostrels!!!

Great right out of the box!
I've been using the Mach3 Turbo for the past three years or so and was generally pleased with the results. I eventually got tired of using it b/c it would sometimes leave my skin irritated from shaving a little too close. Well I bought the 8060X and it came in a couple days ago. I've used it twice and love the results already - despite the instructions stating that it would take my skin up to 21 days to adjust to the new razor. While I've never really used a high quality electric before, I think this razor is superb. I get a close shave (but not too close) and the lotion dispenser keeps the razor gliding easily.
Anyway, I highly recommend this razor.

It's okay, but nothing is as close as a blade.
I've had nothing other than Norelco razers, but decided to try a different approach. This razer was highly rated so I decided to take the plunge. Is it really better than my Norelco? I really can't tell, but regardless of which razer I use, I've got to touch up with a blade.
The bottom line is -- don't expect a real clean shave unless you've got a baby-face beard.

Good Shave for an Electric
I'm a blade man but I needed an electric while recovering from shoulder surgery on my good arm.
I will also use the razor when traveling since this is simpler for me.
I liked this razor a lot. Pretty good shave for an electric. I'd never swith to an electric permanantly but this is a nice option.
What I like:
Good shave but takes some time. Holds charge for a long time. Nice trimmer (I will use this even when I go back to my blade). Easy to clean. Works well wet or dry (but not damp).
What I don't like:
Not too loud but high pitched. Kind of big and clunky. Takes a while to get a really close shave.
All in all pretty good.

Good Electric Razor
A good electric razor for a good price. A decently close shave and I like the self cleaning action.
Rating :
Great Shaver, Smooth and great pivoting action
I would totally Recommend this product, its the best item for it's price. Almost lives up to the Braun. The trimmer is mediocre but you get an amazing shave and you never need to trim really because youll love shaving so much youll want to shave everyday! (Unless you have a perminent beard, goatie, etc..)

Very good when WET, but I returned it...
Good points: can be used in shower very close wet shave, as close as a blade (watch those nicks!) hygienic selfcleaning system looks very cool comfortable shaving foils 30 day moneyback guarantee from Panasonic
Bad Points: bulky base station noisy cleaning process that takes 3 hours (make sure you have finished shaving before you start it cleaning!) very poor dry shaver (the reason I wanted this, hence I returned it) need shave foam to wet shave with this need to buy cleaning cartridges and change every month relatively expensive replacement heads
Summary: I paid $125 for this, used this for 3 weeks and ended up returning it under their 30 day moneyback guarantee - I replaced it with a Braun PocketGo 370 for $20, which works brilliantly.
If you want a cool shaver to use in the shower or for touch-ups, then this is for you - just remember the cost yearly for swapping the cutting heads & cleaning cartridges. If you want a good dry shaver then forget it and go buy a couple of $20 Braun PocketGo shavers that work far better than this thing.

Question : Where to find a small trimming grooming tool for small dogs?
I bought the normal size trimmer for my 8 pound dog and it works great on her body but I need a smaller trimmer for her legs. The video that teaches you how to groom showed a smaller pair of clippers to do the dogs legs and paws. I can't find a smaller trimmer at Petco or Pet Stuff. Any suggestion on where to look?
Answer:
Here's a website with a few trimmers, I have the "Lola" (near the bottom): http://www.ryanspet.com/ryanspet/category.asp?categoryCode=111&
When I groom smaller dogs, I will use the clippers on the body and then sweep them gently over the tops of the legs. Then I comb/brush the legs and use shears to just trim the hair to just 'neaten' it up. Usually shaving the legs will make the legs look super skinny when compared to the body, if you just trim them it balances the look out. Good luck :)

Question : You cut your dog whilst grooming in the testicle or vaginal area. Bleeding heavily. What would you do?
This is a question for a dog grooming course I'm doing. Describe fully what you would do in this situation? Cut the dog with scissors. Bleeding heavily in testicle or vaginal area? I know their are preasure points for bleeding in certain areas. I dont know which pressure point I would use for bleeding in this area. Does a dog bleed more in this area then lets say, maybe a cut else where on the body.
Answer:
Well I'm sure there's a specific area to stop such bleeding, but I worked as a vet tech for a couple years, with any cut, I would have to say to put pressure on the wound until the bleeding stops...
and sugar? You can't really say that. S*** happens, and not every animal is a perfect customer. Dogs/cats wiggle, get upset, bark, get excited, and yes, as a pro you will be more inclined to not cut the animal per experience, but there are never guarantees.
|
Question : What might be causing my cat to have bad breath?
She is eight months old and is in seemingly very good health. When I asked the vet a few months ago about it, she said that it is likely from teething, and it should go away by 6 mos. But, it hasn't. And it's baaaaadddd. When she grooms herself, her whole body stinks!
Answer:
it might be from eating its poop it sounds crazy but a lot of cats do that for some wierd reason

Question : How should I present grooming issues to my girlfriend?
I have recently started a new relationship and I really enjoy being with her. We have a lot of chemistry, a good sex life, and communicate with each other very well.
I have one concern and it stems from her personal grooming habits of body and pubic hair. She has some body hair that I would prefer be removed; and as far as pubic hair, she has not had much experience in the bedroom and does not groom in the area; I am not asking for total clean shaved, but trimmed would be a nice improvement. I am also more than willing to trim myself in that region as well.
If it were any other aspect of our relationship, I would feel comfortable bringing it up nicely/directly. However she already has an issue with being self conscience about her body.
Is this something I am going to have to live with, or is there a tactful way I might approach the subject that would not hurt her feelings?
Answer:
That is a tough one. I would say you are probably going to her her feelings either way you go if she is sensitive. I would focus on letting her know what turns you on...i.e. being a little more clean shaven, and don't let it sound like you are complaining about her specifically. Tell her you find her sexy but everyone has preferences. Better yet, start the conversation by asking her what her preferences are. Good luck.
|
Question : Girls: To shave, or not to shave, that is the question. How do you like your men?
I'm thinking male body hair here, to be more specific. Hairy chest good to run your fingers through or gross? - you decide.
Please note: The questioner wishes it to be known that there is nothing implied or inferred in the above, as to his current body grooming regime.
Answer:
hey you!!!!
Well personally speaking, provided you cant actually plait the chest hair - I think a bit is nice
Back hair is a HUUGE no no though

Question : Body hair shaving problem?
I found this amazing philips shaver for mens body grooming, its working wonders but I tend to have skin irritation and if I dont use hair minimizing lotion, it grows into a boils, especially on my upper back! Is this normal? Is anyone out there having a similar problem?
Answer:
my step-son shaves most of his body hair and has this problem. he found using an abrasive textured cloth or a loofa or a shower scrunchy keeps the dead skin from forming over the hair shaft and no more boils or irritation.
|
Question : What initially attracts you to another?
I mean right from the get go, when you see a stranger walk by. Do sexual features stick out? What parts of the body? Grooming?
Answer:
Since you don't know this persons mind, it depends purely on physical features. That includes your preferred size/shape of boobs, your preferred size/shape of butt, your preferred weight, your preferred shape of face etc. and that goes on for a pretty long time.
|
Question : If your body was a car, would you buy it?
With all the grooming, the cleaning the trimming. Theres the inefficient fuel consumption, the constant fluid replacement, and the weird smell coming from the trunk.
What would you add or subtract to make your body better? More efficient? More user friendly?
Answer:
Sure! It's gotten me wherever I wanted to go; picked up it's "share" of pretty "hitch-hikers" along the way; still gets GREAT miles-per-gallon... AND, it's had surprisingly FEW "breakdowns"- considering some of the rough "roads" I've taken it over... So by & large, I certainly got a good deal on THIS model, & would buy it again- in a heartbeat. :)
|
Question : What is your opnion of men who shave their body hair?
Personally, they look like plucked chickens. But, now it seems to be a common practice.
Does this practice invade personal grooming and based in what our media says what is sexy? Or am I out of touch?
Now, some men are naturally hairless, and that's fine, but that's not what I'm addressing.
Answer:
I don't like lots of hair...I don't wanna be able to run my fingers through it...but at the same time I also don't really like shaved...Trimmed is for me....
Guess i'm kinda like goldie locks.......too much, too little , jst right.....hope the bears don't come home...
but seriously I think it's sexy to see the male form with body hair trimmed and shaped a bit...
Peace and Love
