Great Shaver

I've owned dozens of Remington shavers over the years and this model was the best operating one I've had. Its motor runs fast and it gives a clean and close cut with its full triple-header shave.

My last #1700 broke (I'm reviewing my second of the same model here) and I purchased the supposed upgrade a MS-5200 (see my review on that here at Amazon) and was really unhappy. I ended up searching out this model again and am as pleased with the second one as the first.

My only concern might be with the reliability of the shaver as my first one only lasted 3 years before it broke internally. The cost to have it repaired was more than purchasing a new one.

A great compromise

I love this thing. It's just right for me.

This is definitely a compromise. It's not as good a shaver as, say, a Braun Syncro, and the trimmer is not as good as a dedicated Wahl trimmer. For example, you can't set the trimmer for longer hair. Short beards only, please.

Still, the trimmer has a small end that's good enough for ear and nose hair. You can use it in the shower and you can clean it with water. For me, though, the biggest advantage is that I can replace a bathroom drawer full of gizmos, their cases, chargers and accessories with this one unit.

Much nicer.

fair price good shaving

Norelco Philishave Reflex Plus 6423LC/6423 cord shaver (factory serviced)
This has been bought for my father who is rather conservative in his habits and does not want to try any modern stuff. He is completely satisfied with the purchase: shaving is close and smooth, the process is noiseless. No complaints so far. Two minor remarks: 1) No case to keep the shaver (we use the old one); 2) The plug is not adjusted for the standard socket (again, we took the cord from the previous shaver).

On the whole, fair purchase for this price.

Great travel shaver

I bought this shaver specifically for travel. It does an excellent job, comparing well to a triple head Norelco that I've been using for many years. My beard is fairly light and it does provide a close shave albiet, taking a bit longer to shave.
I had been using a another Norelco travel shaver, but it just wasn't doing the job anymore and I'd been unable to find replacement blades. I also think that the cutters are much better than those on the older model (They are the same as on my triple header).
When I decided to get a new travel shaver, I originally went for the Braun because of its high ratings. As far as I'm concerned it was money wasted. It would not pick up fine hairs and it took about three times as long to shave as does the 31db. It also did not provide a very close shave. I wish that the Braun had the same satisfaction guarantee as the Schick Norelco.

Shick 31DB good travel shaver

Had this travel shaver for about a month. I have a light beard and it does a good job, much better that the Panasonic rechargeable I had. It is compact and I don't have to lug around a charger, which was always annoying to me. I can't say how long the batteries will last, but I think I will get 30 shaves on a set. Very convenient for travel as I can throw it in my toiletries kit, no case needed as the cap is secure. Does not have a trimmer, which some might find a drawback. Haven't seen anything out there that I believe would work better, especially at this price.

Great Simple Shaver

This shaver is great, had it for around a year now and I love it. It gives a good shave and doesn't irritate my skin like my older shavers. It took a little while to get used to but now I cant go back. If you use it in the shower its gives an even closer shave.

Great shaver. Had to replace other panasonic shaver due to poor battery. I was reluctant to buy a refurbished shaver but the price was right. When I got it, I was surprised it looked brand new(they replace the screen/blades). Great performance shaving in the shower. (I have a heavy beard.)So far the battery is excellent, Im getting at least 6 shaves per charge.

Panasonic ES8807 Retro Wet & Dry Shaver (factory refurbished)

Great shaver at a great price. The shaver has a nice look and feel. It's very compact and light making it easy to pack for travel. It takes less than an hour to reach full charge and seems to hold the charge for a long time.
I bought another one because I liked it so much and wanted one as a backup in case it malfunctions down the road and because it's cheaper to buy a refurb than to replace the cutter blades and outer foil, which will cost about $62 compared to the refurb for $50.
