Editorial Review :

As the only electric shaver with a four-way moving head, Braun’s Syncro System is set apart from other models. Its head both pivots and oscillates to enlarge the foil holes by 60% more than on other Braun shavers, capturing more facial hairs in a single glide. Additionally, the Syncro Shaver’s three-stage shaving system provides a closer and cleaner shave--the first foil shaves stubble and shorter hairs, the integrated cutter lifts and trims close-lying or curled hairs, and then the second foil shaves them off. An extendable trimmer also pops up for shaving longer hair, such as mustaches or sideburns. For added comfort and to reduce nicks and cuts, the head adjusts to the contours of your face.

The Syncro System operates either via a cord or cordless for up to 50 minutes (or two to three weeks of daily shaves) following a 60-minute charge. Smart Logic technology ensures that the battery is always operating at its peak. Ideal for travel, this shaver adjusts to any international voltage standards and comes with a travel pouch and a cleaning brush. --Cristina Vaamonde

Editor's note: This is a reconditioned shaver. Reconditioned generally means that the shaver has been returned to the manufacturer from the retailer due to packaging damage. Each shaver undergoes extensive testing, cleaning, and repairs to bring it back to like-new condition. Includes a 2-year warranty against defects, excluding the foil and cutter block.

Great shaver

Gave this as a gift to my Father-in-law and he is astounded. Say's its the best shaver he's owned! Flexible head is a nice feature. Battery keeps a good charge. Shaves close. The trimmer does only a moderate job on sideburns, especially if they are longer. but it's good for single single hairs on neck that the shaver misses. It seems the teeth are so close together it has a hard time getting through thicker hair. Oh well, that's what barbers are for.

Factory Reconditioned? Blades not sharp. I'm sure a new one would be good.

I use this every now and then but it takes forever to get a decent shave, probably will be last refurb I ever buy. I have the feeling if I bought a new set of blades it would be night and day. If something is sold as a refurb isn't it supposed to be inspected and brought up to factory standards. As far as construction of unit and battery life they are fine. I happened to be writing a review for a brilliant Oral Breeze irrigator when other products I bought came up for review so decided to state my piece on this even though I've had it for six months or more. I'm convinced it is a good product and design, but was sent out with worn out blades. I've never been much of an electric shaver fan but using a friend's at his weekend house was impressed - totally different experience than what I received. I should have complained right away. I'm told that most refurbs are not done at the factory but contracted out to refurb houses, I can't imagine Braun (a company I've always respected) sending out a unit like this. You would think blades, even as a matter of hygiene, would be totally replaced in a refurb.

Re-built Braun 7526

It was all I hoped for.
No problems.
Good buy.
Same performance as a new razor.
Greatly surprised to get base/cleaner/etc.,also.
I was just expecting the razor.

Very good Buy

I was looking for a electric shaver since a long time . I like this product because of its ease of use and smooth slide across the face. Recommended for anyone wanting to buy this product

Hey, It's an electric

I suppose the shaver does what it is supposed to do. It's just that I have used a blade since my Norelco died 30 odd years ago and am not used to electric shaving. I was hoping that improvements in design might actually lead to a close, comfortable shave. But alas, all the bells and whistles do is give the same old sort of close, razor burn shave. Braun states in the directions to give it 3 weeks for your beard to adjust to the shaver as if using the thing will cause a physiological change in your facial hair that magically allows the shaver to cut more close and comfortable after 21 days. Don't count on it. The automatic cleaning/charging unit is a nice feature but does not improve the shave. The reconditioned unit works just fine. No problems there. It's just that the shave is more of a "clean up the face for work" shave than a "rub cheek with your girl" shave.

FAKE REMINGTON - PIECE OF CRAP - BROKE WITHIN TWO MONTH

As others stated, this is not a true Remington product. It comes in plastic baggies, unlike normal Remington blades and foil. This was not disclosed before the sale. Also, the item basically fell apart after only a few months of use and the metal is now jutting out and cutting my skin. This has never happen before with a real Remington. And, sadly, "Shaver Oultet" is charging the true Remington price for this shoddy item. DO NO BUY THIS ITEM!! You will be doing yourself a favor.
Thanks.

Pleasant experience

Remington no longer produces this razor or the blades, but my husband likes it and it still works fine. We were glad to find some in stock. Product was delivered quickly - easy transaction.

Beware of refurbished items

Although not evident in the item sale description, this is a refurbished item. A little overpriced for something that is not in the original package. This item arrives in a plastic baggie and is similar to what you would find on ebay, except here you are paying full retail price, note you do not receive a full retail item.

Rating :

Deceptive Listing

Product is NOT the official Remington SP-282 advertised by Shaver Outlet, although it may be similar. It is a no-name knock-off arriving in seperate parts at virtually the Remington price. Buyer beware...... I'll go elsewhere, next time.

Exactly what I needed.

This part was for my Remington Shaver and is not a part that you find on any store shelf. The nearest store I know of that has this part is over 20 miles. Although I thought shipping was a little high, even with shipping it came out to be a better price than the cost of gas plus the cost of the item.

Norelco 6701x

My only other experience with electric razors has been with the Braun 1775 and I believe this is definitely a better shave.

PROS: Great close shave, love the norelco shaving gel/lotion, it's quieter than my Braun 1775, and the 3 pivoting heads are perfect for where your neck/chin curves.

CONS: Shaving in the shower doesnt give you as close of a shave, it supposedly takes 8 hours to charge and charge only lasts 40min, and you can't shave while it's plugged into the wall.

Even with the cons, it's a great razor, especially for the price. Buy it!

not as good as i expected...

it's a very good shaver, but i expected a closer shave... it's really hard to shave under the jaw and it's really anoying to have to pump the gel... but on the bright side, it's really great for people with sensitive skin because there's hardly any irritation, also the battery lasts for over two weeks (and i have to say i use it every day and sometimes twice a day...). all in all i do recommend it and i think it was a good purchase..

Happy Convert

I hate shaving. I loathe it. It may be the worst part of being an adult male (which is, you know, not such a bad thing but still...) and I am fortunate that I really only have to shave a couple of times a week for work and such.

After reading the reviews here about a year ago, I went for it and bought the CoolSkin.

I decided that I would follow the instructions to the letter for the first couple of weeks. I shaved every day (horrible!!!) and then after about 10 days, something 'clicked' and it became an actual pleasure to shave.

It takes longer than using a conventional razor, but when you're finished, your face is smooth from the moisturizer and you have no more whiskers. Yay!

If you "let yourself go" for a bit and have longer whiskers, don't worry, it will still work. Don't hold the razor at the ends of the whiskers or it will simply PULL THE BEARD OUT OF YOUR FACE and no one except for a small yet vocal type of person wants that sort of pain in their life. Instead, begin shaving at the edge of the "beardline" and use slow, deliberate circles and you will achieve a nice, smooth, comfy shave.

Make sure you rinse the blades

Do it. You know you want it. Do it...

It's a Winner

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my soon-to-be son-in-law, who shaves his head. He wanted a razor he could use in the shower. I can't personally say this is a great product but he says so, so I'll take his word for it. His head and face look as smooth as a baby's bottom, and he especially loves the shower feature.

One Part Of Necessary Stuff

Only if you have really heavy facial hair will you need to replace just the screen. I recommend replacing both the screen and the cutters at the same time. Go for the SP-96 replacement normally. I would only get this if some unforseeable accident happened to your screen.

Best Ever

I've tried every electric razor I could including Braun, Panasonic and Norelco. The Sanyo outperforms them all. It's quicker and shaves closer. I was surprised at how well the Sanyo works. At the price, I think it's a great buy.

Rating :

Good, but Red Flag if you have a beard

The razor charges quickly, is powerful, and shaves close - all good things it does well.

The flaw is the pop-up trimmer that runs all the time, including in the down position where it's still exposed. If you have a beard, and the same is true for sideburns, and you want to shave close to it, you have to be very careful that the trimmer is on the away side or you'll do an unplanned cut on your beard/sideburns. That means you're constantly rolling the razor. It can be done, but first thing in the morning that's asking for a lot of thought for a task that shouldn't require any concentration.

If you don't have a beard, or it and your sideburns are close cropped, this shouldn't be an issue and you'll probably be happy with the shaver.

Closer than a blade on thick hair! Better than Panasonic, Braun, Norelco, etc!

I have owned this shaver for about 3 months now and this thing is amazing! It blows away Norelcos, Brauns, Philips, Remingtons and even Panasonics.. and I have wasted money on them all! I'll first mention that I have a very thick beard, not meaning that I have a lot of hair on my face, but just that my hairs are VERY thick and SUPER tough. I have cut and scarred my skin many times using blades, which is why I prefer electrics. Electric razors however normally just don't seem to work well with thick tough hairs, perhaps because the screen holes need to be dangerously larger to accommodate, or perhaps they actually need to spend more $$ on designing the screens/cutters better. I also get break outs from using electrics too long on my face - it takes me 15 minutes or more to shave every morning.

I've used top of the line Norelcos (SpeedXL blades and previous models), which seem to be the worst, never giving you a close shave, and always leaving you feeling like you have a 5 o'clock shadow. I've tried Braun's 8995, which was loud, irritating, and not much better than the Norelcos. It also was not wet/dry. I actually had good luck with Panasonic's es8152nc (wet shave), which I used for over 2 years. The screens/cutters for it however only lasted only about a month for me, and at $40 a pop, that adds up to about $500/yr to shave! Unfortunately, they discontinued it in favor of their newer models, which are complete cheap junk (stay far far away!).... after the batteries in my second es8152nc crapped out, and having a difficult time finding replacement batteries, I thought I would give Panasonic's new es8077s a whirl. What a disappointment! It cut my face leaving permanent scars and wasn't even as close as a Norelco. The newer Panasonic screens/cutters are also made like junk. I shipped that right back. (Thanks Amazon for the no hassle return). I finally ended up digging up an old es87152nc still in the package that turned up online.

A couple weeks later I saw this Sanyo shaver on Amazon which had some good reviews that appeared not to be written by the manufacturer like other products. Since wet shaves are the only way to go, and this can be used as a wet shaver, I though I'd give it a try. This thing shaves unbelievably close... even closer than my Gillette Fusion Power. I'll have gone over my face with my Fusion blade and I'll still hear and see the Sanyo cut hair when I run it over my face. It also actually can cut under my chin where I, amongst many others, seem to have lots of problems with. You might have to try a few times to get the angle right, but it will actually work. Just make sure you use this as a wet shaver, letting warm water soak into your beard first to soften things up, then use some Edge shaving Gel along with it.

I actually start off now shaving with my Fusion Power for my cheeks and the sides of my neck to limit irritation and breakouts, then use the Sanyo to touch up what the Fusion didn't get, as well as around my lip and goatee where I tend to cut myself a lot with a blade.

There are a couple drawbacks to keep in mind which are why I rated it 4 stars instead of 5. First of all, it uses the ancient (Circa 1899 - Waldmar Jungne) Nickel Cadmium batteries that are garbage, keep a memory, and don't have a very long life. There's no excusing them for not using lithium ion batteries. I only get a few shaves out of a charge, but it does charge quickly. Second, replacement blades are nowhere to be found. They don't even sell them on Amazon at this point! According to the package insert, you can supposedly go to Sanyo's service web site and order replacement blades, but take look and I wish you good luck with that because you will need it! I'm also guessing you might need a second mortgage on your house so you can pay for them. Finally, it has nicked my skin a few times, even while being very careful. You just have to remember to not put too much pressure on it down on your face while shaving.

I have yet to see how long the screen/cutter will last. However, it has lasted an amazing 3 months and definitely holds up better than the Panasonic's WES9006PC screen/foil, which after about a week would start getting loud and not giving as good of a shave.

I would like to end with mentioning that the level of noise this shaver makes that other people have commented on is really not that bad. If you're used to a Norelco, then yes it is loud, but it's quieter than the Braun 8995 I tried, and quieter than my Panasonic when the screen/cutter starts to go. Lastly who cares about noise when you can get such a great shave with this.

This Is A Great Razor!

I purchased this razor when my 3rd Braun 7000 Series quit. This great razor has me wondering, "Why isn't this thing famous or at least a household name?" The blades and head have held up twice as long as any other foil shaver I've owned. Cleaning is a snap - wet or dry. Charging takes 10 minutes tops and it -is- fully charged. It's a gem, a genuine excellent razor overlooked by too many.

Best Wet/Dry I've Ever Had

I have had wet/dry shavers since they first became available a few decades ago, and almost all have been Panasonic shavers until now. This shaver from Sanyo gives me the closest and smoothest shave of any shaver I've ever had -- and like others who have reviewed this product with high ratings, I have skin that easily nicks and a tough beard. The first of these I bought developed a switch problem after about 4 months. I sent it off for repair and received what appeared to be a new or refurbished shaver in an original box as a replacement within less than two weeks -- much better turnaround time then I ever had with Panasonic warranty repairs. Highly recommended for the quality of the shave and the service.

Question : Are there any good fabric shavers out there?
Needed for clothes that have those little pills.

Answer:
I own three of them. Remington makes the best one but it is difficult to find. It is a compact model and very good for cuffs and collars. I also have one by Evercare which doesn't seem to have the power on nubby fabrics and knits that the Remington had. And, I have a larger model by CedarFresh that is great for doing large sweaters because it has a larger cutting surface. I originally purchased the Remington at a fabric store that has since gone out of business. I just bought the Evercare at WalMart and the CedarFresh came from Long's Drug store. I do NOT recommend the no name brand $3.00 one that Big Lots is selling. I bought one and returned it. It is very small, the container that the lint is collected in is tiny and needs to be emptied often and the thing practically falls apart in your hand while you are using it.

Question : Does anyone know where to find repair manuals for newer shavers?
I am looking for repair manuals for electric shavers made from 2000 on. Has anyone worked on these shavers? Are they hard to work on?Can I buy the manuals from the manufacturer?
