Question : What does this body language signal mean?
I know that when a person touches their hair it is a "grooming signal" and when a person folds their arms it is a "defense signal". What does it mean when someone tugs down their shirt? Are they covering up or trying to groom?

Answer:
Covering up, they are uncomfortable.

Question : Can somebody body tell me how many people suppose to be in a wedding besides bridesmaids and groom men?
Can somebody body tell me how many people suppose to be in a wedding besides bridesmaids and groom men?

Answer:
Depends on your culture and traditions. I didn't have anyone in my wedding. No attendants, bridesmaids, not even a maid of honor. Traditionally we have the bridesmaids, groomsmen, maid and/or matron of honor, best man... or woman, ring bearer, flower girls. Oh. And let's not forget the bride and groom.

Question : more grooming products...?
Hi. Can people list me some good grooming products for my twh mare? She's black. I want grooming products for her body, mane, tail, hooves, and face. She has a white stripe down her face, i want something to brihten it up. Please post products for all of the above. Thanks, Brianna

Answer:
Oh basic brushing and grooming you want a curry comb, there are 2 types a metal shedding curry and a rubber curry. I have one of each. You want a face brush. it's small and mad eof super soft bristles so you can safely groom around her face. Then there are the body brushes. Once again there are several types I have one of each texture a stiff one for whisking away dry mud , a med bristled one for a slightly deeper cleaning and getting the finer stuff off and a soft body brush for slicking the hair back down and putting a lil shine to it. Mane and tail you'll want a mane and tail comb or brush but don't brush the hair all the time as it breaks the shafts and will amke a shirter britle mane or tail. Brush maybe once a week. Definately use some sort of condiotner detangler when you do brush it to help prevent tangles and damage. As far as shampoos go there is a line of color enhancing shampoos by Rio Vista. they work awesome. Now for a conditoner after shampoosing I actually like to use Cholesterol on their manes and tails. it's the stuff that ethnic girls use ontheir hair. You slather it in, let it sit and then rinse out, leaves hair super shiny and softer AND helps it grow!!! As for the white strip down her face you can wash it with white n brite shampoo but don't wash her head like you do her body, do whats called hot towel batheing. Fill up 2 buckets of hot water (not too hot tho) and get a bunch of white rags. Dunk one rag into a bucket of clean warm water , wring it out until it is just damp, not dripping and add a drop of shampoo to the rag. Work the shampoo up and down the blaze well. Dunk and rewring that rag as needed to get the blaze slightly sudzy . Then take a clean rag dunk in the 2nd bucket wring and "rinse it away with the non sudsy rag) For the hooves unless you are showing I would just keep a good hoof condiotner on them such as Rain maker , hoof heal or hoofflex. Also you will need a hoof pic to clean her hooves out and in case of thrush keep some Thrush Buster on hand. One application cures the thrush right up. Hope this helps

Question : What causes a body odor even if your very hygienic and health conscious?
I have friend that is very well groomed and health concious, eating the right food and taking a bath though not often as in every other day because he gets feverish if he always wet his hair specially in cold season but the problem is he still have a body odor and I gently advise him to use deodorant and he tried but he gets allergies in the armpit so he stopped. I wish I could help him but even I hesitate to mentioned that too much to him for fear of hurting his feelings. How can I help him to lessen the smell in natural way without resorting to surgery? please advise.

Answer:
That's not so very hygienic and health conscious. Body odour is caused by bacteria. The natural oils and moisture that your skin releases protects you and attracts bacteria. Some people are afflicted worse than others. I don't think there is surgery for it... you seem to know.... but to rid yourself of dreadful body odor, there is no good answer, but to bathe regularly, replacing those natural oils with something scented that is more appealing. There are low allergy soaps available. Salty water is also good btw. An anti-bacterial soap with lavender for example.... a good quality shampoo and conditioner used daily will also help conceal it... and an antiperspirant deoderant with a matching cologne..... oh,... and maybe this person bathes twice a day but wears the same clothes for a week... so a good quality scented washing powder and regular change of clothes is also a useful ploy to adopt..... How do you handle this as friend? Go to the laundromat together?.. Nope. talk about it.. people don't learn unless they communicate.... you get to learn how to be diplomatic and achieve what you set out to.. they learn to smell like a rose... If none of these alternatives work, then I understand there are prescriptive medications available for these symptoms.

Question : How do I stop my cat constanly grooming/cleaning to the point he has chewed his hair off one of his legs?
He's a ragdoll. Quite needy and has also lost weight and shedding hair quite dramatically from the mid to the back top part of his body. (Has been wormed and fleaed)

Answer:
If your cat hasn't been seen by a vet recently, then you need to take him in for a check up. He has a variety of symptoms and they may or may not be related. The excessive grooming could be due to parasites, inhaled allergens, food intolerance or even stress. If your cat isn't feeling well, this could make him stressed. The articles below on skin allergies and food intolerance have lots of information which you may find helpful. http://www.celiahaddon.co.uk/pet%20problems/cats/skin%20allergies.html http://www.celiahaddon.co.uk/pet%20problems/cats/food%20allergies.html The average cat spends over a third of their waking day grooming. Not only does it keep their coat in good condition, it's also very therapeutic in relieving tension. However, if a cat is feeling stressed, they will use grooming as a diversionary activity - it's far more comforting than facing up to the problem. If the vet thinks it's stress related, he might suggest fitting him with an Elizabethan collar to prevent him from grooming. A Feliway plug in might help, as they emit an aroma that cats find comforting. (You'll need to use it for at least 3 weeks to see the full benefits.) If he'll allow you to groom him, spend more time doing this, as not only will it strengthen the bond between you, but it may reduce his desire to do it. Try also diverting his attention to something else, such as toys to see if this will help break the habit. Bach Flower Remedies can be helpful in treating stress or other emotional problems in cats. The web article below explains which ones to use and how to administer them. http://www.critterchat.net/bach.htm Hope he will be okay.

Question : Is it NECESSARY to buy lots of grooming products?
Is it really NECESSARY to buy things such as foot scrub, hand scrub, hand cream, foot cream? or even a body scrub? how about using a face scrub for your body/hand and feet? how about body lotion for hand and feet too? or are hand and feet products made for it cos its Necessary or is it made just to get customers to believe that they really NEED TO USE it?

Answer:
i only buy the basic grooming products. i use body lotion for my body, hand and feet (never use body lotion on the face because then body skin and the face are not the same). i even use my face scrub on the back of my body. (the face scrub have anti-acne properties in it, so i use it for my back because i have small acne there. in my pov, theres no use to buy the complete set. but if u have severe skin condition that have special need, then buy them separately.

Question : Where to find a small trimming grooming tool for small dogs?
I bought the normal size trimmer for my 8 pound dog and it works great on her body but I need a smaller trimmer for her legs. The video that teaches you how to groom showed a smaller pair of clippers to do the dogs legs and paws. I can't find a smaller trimmer at Petco or Pet Stuff. Any suggestion on where to look?

Answer:
Here's a website with a few trimmers, I have the "Lola" (near the bottom): http://www.ryanspet.com/ryanspet/category.asp?categoryCode=111& When I groom smaller dogs, I will use the clippers on the body and then sweep them gently over the tops of the legs. Then I comb/brush the legs and use shears to just trim the hair to just 'neaten' it up. Usually shaving the legs will make the legs look super skinny when compared to the body, if you just trim them it balances the look out. Good luck :)
